Celebs Who Broke Up Within A Month
It's no secret that celebrity relationships typically have a short shelf-life. From Extra host Mario Lopez's nine-day marriage to actress Ali Landry to Kim Kardashian's 72-day union with Kris Humphries, most couplings in Tinseltown typically run out of gas before they make it to the finish line. In fact, there are some celeb romances that ended almost as soon as they started. Yep, plenty of famous couples split just a few days into their relationship, while others barely made it to the one-month mark. Let's take a look at Hollywood's most notorious flash-in-the-pan couples.
Scott Disick and Bella Thorne
Scott Disick and Bella Thorne's brief fling between May and June 2017 might be something most fans want to forget. Not only was there a 15-year age gap between the troubled reality star and the actress (yikes), but Thorne was supposed to be good friends with Disick's quasi-sisters-in-law, Kylie and Kendall Jenner. Kind of an uncomfortable situation, right?
Despite the awkwardness of the pairing, Disick and Thorne decided to go full steam ahead with their romance by jetting off to Cannes together for a sun soaked vacation. Throughout the highly publicized trip, paparazzi caught the two kissing and canoodling by the pool. Let's just say the vacay had no shortage of PDA, though Thorne insisted they didn't, um, go all the way.
What really put this romance to bed was Disick's alleged heavy drinking and partying. "I just don't party hardcore like that and it was way too much for me," Thorne said, according to Complex UK. "I was like, 'Woah, this is not the way I live my life, bruh.'"
Kim Kardashian & Nick Lachey
Ah, who could ever forget Nick Lachey and Kim Kardashian's short-lived romance in May 2006? Long before Kardashian was mega-famous (aka pre-Keeping up with the Kardashians), she went on a few dates with Lachey following his divorce from Jessica Simpson. Most notably, Lachey and Kardashian were photographed by a hoard of paparazzi following a casual outing to the movies.
Needless to say, Kardashian's romance with the former member of boy band 98 Degrees cooled quickly, but public interest has remained luke warm. Five years after their infamous movie date, Lachey even insinuated that Kardashian used him for fame. Yep, there was once was a time when Lachey was more well-known than Kardashian (Newlyweds Nick & Jessica, anyone?)
"Let's just say this: We went to a movie. No one followed us there," Lachey recalled in an interview (via HuffPost). "Somehow, mysteriously, when we left, there were 30 photographers waiting outside."
Dylan Sprouse and Miley Cyrus
Once upon a time, Miley Cyrus and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody alum Dylan Sprouse entered a very short-lived relationship when they were both stars on the Disney Channel. Talk about a major throwback, right?
Sprouse confessed to the quickie relationship during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in October 2008. Kimmel referenced an article claiming that the then pre-teens dated for just one day. Not only did Sprouse confirm the 24-hour romance, he also revealed that Cyrus left him for Nick Jonas (ouch).
"We met on her set, I believe, and we dated," Sprouse said (via Popsugar). "And then Nick Jonas walked by and it was over!"
Don't feel too bad for Sprouse. He now owns a successful brewery in Brooklyn, N.Y., and he holds a bachelor's degree from New York University. Not too shabby.
Kaley Cuoco and Henry Cavill
Before The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco got engaged to her current fiancé, equestrian Karl Cook, she enjoyed a 10-day coupling with Superman actor Henry Cavill.
The whirlwind romance, which went down during the summer of 2011, first made headlines after Cuoco and Havill were spotted grocery shopping in Sherman Oaks, Calif. Cuoco really got the rumor mill churning when she tweeted a semi-flirtatious endorsement of his flick, Man of Steel. "Everyone go see "man of steel," she gushed (via E! News). "It's fantastic in every single way."
Alas, the relationship ran its course faster than a speeding bullet, ending a few days short of the two-week mark. Although the cause of the split remains unknown, a source told E! News at the time that the exes would remain friends.
Oh, and if you're wondering what this high-profile fling did for Cuoco's star power? She admitted that it completely changed her life. "I had no one following me until I met Superman. I've been in this business for 20 years, and my whole life, I could go anywhere, do anything," she told Cosmopolitan in 2014. "There had not been one paparazzi photo of me until [Cavill came into the picture.] The recognition was crazy."
Jessica Simpson and Billy Corgan
It goes without saying that Simpson and Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan made for an odd couple. All throughout their month-long romance in the winter of 2009, fans couldn't help but point out their glaring differences, from their contrasting musical styles to their night and day personalities. Something just never seemed right with this coupling, to say the least.
But as they say, love is blind, and by all accounts, Simpson was infatuated with Corgan. "She has fallen hard and is smitten," a source told E! News at the time.
As for Corgan, he had this to say about his lady love, according to Rolling Stone: "... My goal in life is to love whoever I think is worth loving, and I think if people knew her like I knew her, they would love her like I do. It's really simple."
Despite the poetics, rumor has it that Corgan dumped Simpson after six dates because he "just got bored."
Lily Collins and Chris Evans
When actress Lily Collins and Captain America star Chris Evans were first spotted out on a date in March 2015, fans were thrilled. Evans and Collins, who reportedly met at an Oscars party, made for a really cute couple that seemed perfect on paper.
And for a month, things did seem perfect. Evans and Collins always looked giddy when they were photographed on dinner dates and errand runs. "It's just the beginning stages," a source told Us Weekly at the time. "But they're having a lot of fun and seeing where it goes."
Unfortunately for Evans, Collins apparently decided to ditch the one-month romance for her former flame, British actor Jamie Campbell Bower. Unfortunately for Collins, she and Bower split about five months after getting back together.
Geri Halliwell and Russell Brand
Sometimes it's better to keep your relationship on the DL until you know where it's going. Case in point: Shortly after Spice Girl alum Geri Halliwell confirmed she was dating comedian Russell Brand, the romance imploded in a very embarrassing way.
All right, let's rewind the clock all the way back to August 2012, when Halliwell and Brand first met at the Summer Olympics in London. The two stars, who both performed at the prestigious ceremony, had an immediate connection that quickly blossomed into something "serious."
"Things are getting very serious between them — they're a proper couple now," a source told The Sun at the time. "They had met several times in the past, but really got to know each other during the Olympics."
Halliwell also confirmed the romance to Metro, explaining: "Yes. It's been a whirlwind. All I want is to be in a loving relationship..."
Alas, Brand was spotted checking into a hotel with a "mystery brunette" just a few days after Ginger Spice's romantic proclamation. Although Halliwell didn't comment on the supposed betrayal, one can imagine she had a bit of egg on her face as a result.
Evan Rachel Wood and Katherine Moennig
Following Evan Rachel Wood's split from her actor ex-husband, Jamie Bell, she struck up a month long romance with The L Word star Katherine Moennig. The quickie courtship reportedly began after Wood sent Moennig a flirty message via Twitter in February 2013.
"Just saw @katemoennig at a flea market, Wood wrote. "I turned to mush and ran. Love her!!" To Wood's delight, Moennig responded right away, saying, "You should have said hi :)."
Apparently, the mutual fangirling eventually evolved into a real relationship. "Evan is crazy about Katherine. She had a crush on her for years but now can act on it," an insider told Us Weekly in October 2014. "The age difference [about 10 years] doesn't bother her at all either. She thinks they make an amazing couple. She is head over heels and Katherine feels the same way."
Something clearly bothered them because after a month of high-profile dates around Los Angeles, the duo dissolved. Although it's not clear why the pair split, Moennig might have been the one to cut the cord, based on Wood's depressing tweet: "...it hurts."
Justin Bieber and Sofia Richie
Before Sofia Richie started dating the aforementioned Disick, she enjoyed a month-long courtship with Justin Bieber in the summer of 2016. Not only did the two frequent hot spots around Hollywood together, but Bieber also accompanied Richie to Mexico to celebrate her 18th birthday. Sounds serious, right?
Unfortunately for Richie, Bieber's fans were not happy with the coupling and expressed their displeasure by flooding both Richie and Bieber's social media accounts with the dreaded snake emoji.
To make matters even worse, Bieber's ex, Selena Gomez, chimed in the on the relationship after Bieber threatened to make his Instagram private. "If you can't handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol — it should be special between you two only," Gomez wrote (via Entertainment Tonight). "Don't be mad at your fans. They love you."
Apparently, the backlash was too intense for Bieber and Richie, and they ended their dalliance in mid-September. The good news: their breakup was totally low-key, and TMZ reported that Richie and Bieber moved on ASAP.
Channing Walls and Javi Marroquin
After Teen Mom 2 star Javi Marroquin's split from wife Kailyn Lowry, he rebounded with fellow MTV star Madison Channing Walls in March 2017, and as with most rebounds, the relationship had an extremely short shelf life.
The especially unfortunate part of the whole thing was that Marroquin and Walls were very public about their long-distance relationship. Not only did the Delaware-based Marroquin and Texas-native Walls talk about each other in the press all the time, but Walls revealed just a few days into their romance that she was already planning to introduce her new guy to her family and friends.
"I'm really excited for him to come to Austin...," she said (via E! News). "I'm going to introduce him to my friends and family and [my daughter] Harper, and, yeah, it should just be a really good time, and then we are already making plans for this summer together."
Those introductions never materialized because the couple broke up just two weeks into the relationship. As for why the pair called it quits, Marroquin explained (via Radar Online): "We just decided being friends is better off."
