Barmageddon Season 1: Release Date, Cast, And More Information

A new celebrity game show is coming, and it's called "Barmageddon." Per Rotten Tomatoes, the show will begin airing Season 1 on December 5 at 9 p.m. on USA Network. Not to be confused with the TruTV series that began in 2014 with the same name (via IMDb), this "Barmageddon" is going to star country singer Blake Shelton and television host Carson Daly, as written by ET in its piece on the first look at the upcoming series.

However, "The Voice" co-stars Daly and Shelton aren't the only famous faces fans will see when they tune in to watch the show, as WWE star Nikki Bella will host the series. That isn't all, though, NBC News reports. Each episode will feature a face-off between two celebrities as they compete in a number of different bar games, and the matchups certainly make it sound as though the series could go viral online.

Virality ties in with the show's premise

Funnily enough, the concept of going viral ties in with the premise of "Barmageddon" itself. Carson Daly can be heard explaining this element of the new game show in its official trailer on USA Network's YouTube channel. Says Daly, "'Barmageddon' is a show where the celebrities you love give viral video sensations a shot at redemption playing some crazy games."

As Daly goes on to explain in the trailer, the show is filmed in Nashville, Tennessee, at Shelton's bar in Downtown Nashville, Ole Red. Per NBC News, the celebrities set to be featured on the show in Season 1 are Blake Shelton, Brie Bella, Elle King, Chris Young, Clint Bowyer, Gwen Stefani, Jay Pharaoh, Jimmie Johnson, Kane Brown, Lil Rey Howery, Malin Åkerman, Martin Kove, Mike Vrabel, Sasha Banks, Sheryl Crow, and Trace Adkins. So far, it hasn't been confirmed which viral video stars will be featured on "Barmageddon."

The game show structure includes multiple games

The first look at "Barmageddon" shown on YouTube gives a taste of the games and excitement viewers can expect, but a press release from USA Network provides even more information on the game show angle.

According to a press release about "Barmageddon" published by Hollywood Outbreak, fans can expect extreme twists on games such as axe throwing, cornhole, darts, and more that sound to be firmly adult-oriented in their nature. From the description provided in the press release, each celebrity competing on "Barmageddon" will be playing in support of a viral video sensation who will be at the bar. Fortunately for the losers of each round, the show also incorporates a Wheel of Redemption, which sounds as though it is likely to involve some embarrassment for the person hoping to be redeemed. In addition, Blake Shelton himself will perform the theme song for "Barmageddon," which was written by Jimmy Buffett and Mac McAnally.
