Why Jacqueline MacInnes Wood Once Disappeared From The Bold And The Beautiful Scene

Jacqueline MacInnes Wood plays the stylish and sassy Steffy Forrester on "The Bold and the Beautiful." More often than not, Steffy steals scenes with her opinionated personality, especially when it comes to defending the people she loves the most. However, she hasn't always had the right answers.

After the heartbreaking baby swap storyline that saw her give back her adopted baby Phoebe to Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) and Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton), Steffy became addicted to pain medication. The actress told Soap Central in 2019 that it was one of her most heart-wrenching storylines to date. She said, "So many people out there have suffered from addiction, and how does that not get you emotional? I watch those scenes back, and I still get emotional. Not because of me but because of the story and knowing that so many people have gone through this. It breaks my heart."

While there's no doubt fans have seen Steffy go through much hardship in the past, there was a time when we didn't see her on the canvas at all. This absence made many viewers wonder what had happened and if she was ever coming back.

Jacqueline MacInnes Wood took a break from soaps to party around the world

While it might almost seem impossible to picture life in "The Bold and the Beautiful's" fictional city of Los Angeles without Steffy Forrester, there was a time in which she was nowhere to be found. According to We Love Soaps, in 2013, some speculation suggested that Wood chose not to renew her contract with the hit CBS soap. However, there was some confusion about her status on the show as Soaps in Depth tweeted she was still filming future episodes but was also planning to take a break from the show. Soap Opera Digest managed to clear up some of the rumors by releasing a statement from her spokesperson that said Wood "is taking a short break, as she has done in the past, from 'B&B.' She remains as the character of Steffy Forrester and is continuing to tape, currently with episodes airing through July of 2013 and then beyond."

So, what exactly was Wood doing during that time? It turns out that she had filmed guest starring roles on "Castle" and "Anger Management," according to her IMDb page. She also hosted the E! aeries "Party On," where she got to literally party around the world. But this wasn't the only time that Wood had left the soap world.

Jacqueline MacInnes Wood took several more breaks from The Bold and the Beautiful

In March 2019, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood temporarily left the soap when she and her husband, Elan Ruspoli, welcomed their firstborn child, Rise Harlen, per Michael Fairman TV. At the time, her "The Bold and the Beautiful" character, Steffy Forrester, left Los Angeles to run the Forrester Creations offices in Paris. The actress took another break from the soap in February 2021 when she gave birth to her second child, Lenix, according to Entertainment Tonight, and then again in May 2022 when she welcomed her third son, Brando, as detailed by People. Ever the multitasker, Wood shared an Instagram photo of her two older kids sleeping beside her while breastfeeding Brando.

It's safe to say that these days Wood isn't partying it up in Ibiza or Mykonos as much as she did back in 2014, but that's because she's got other priorities now. With that said, it doesn't matter how many times Wood leaves "B&B" because she always ends up coming back better than ever. After all, who is Steffy Forrester, if not Jacqueline MacInnes Wood?
