Where Are Conjoined Twins Abby And Brittany Hensel Now?

Over the years, fans have been fascinated with conjoined twins Abby and Brittany Hensel. Hailing from Minnesota, the sisters were born in 1990 with a unique condition. Their heads joined to one torso, they quickly mastered coordinating their shared body. As popular subjects of the press, they instantly captivated viewers with their upbeat personalities and highly functioning lives.

Their everyday routine is certainly a balancing act, with the twins having to meet halfway on a variety of matters. One area they've had to navigate is compromising on their sense of fashion. Abby once told BBC, "We definitely have different styles. Brittany's a lot more like neutrals and pearls and stuff like that and I would rather have it be more fun and bright and colourful."

Throughout the years, cameras have followed the twins as they have adjusted to adulthood. We got a glimpse of their life during their reality TV show in 2012, but what are Abby and Brittany up to now?

Abby and Brittany Hensel have led private lives

From the time they were young kids, Abby and Brittany Hensel garnered a great amount of media attention. According to Distractify, they were featured on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in 1996. In 2012, they had their own reality TV show "Abby & Brittany," which ran on TLC for one season. The series centered on their lives amid graduating college and attaining their first job.

However, over recent years, the twins have maintained their privacy. They do have a joint Instagram account, but they haven't posted anything since 2015. There's one part of their life they've kept especially secret, even when they shared their lives on camera: romantic relationships. In 2012, Brittany told the Daily Mail (via Mirror), "The whole world doesn't need to know who we are seeing, what we are doing and when we are going to do it. But believe me, we are totally different people." Abby added, "Yeah, we are going to be mums one day, but we don't want to talk about how it's going to work yet."

Abby and Brittany Hensel became elementary school teachers

As reported in a 2022 In Touch Weekly article, Abby and Brittany Hensel eventually fulfilled their dreams of becoming teachers. After graduating from Bethel University, they got jobs teaching fourth and fifth grade with a focus in math. Although they have their own teaching licenses, they split their paycheck. But this wasn't exactly ideal in their eyes. In 2013, Abby told BBC, "Obviously right away we understand that we are going to get one salary because we're doing the job of one person." She expanded on tackling this challenge, adding, "As maybe experience comes in we'd like to negotiate a little bit, considering we have two degrees and because we are able to give two different perspectives or teach in two different ways."

There's no doubt that the teachers were welcomed with open arms. In a 2012 clip from "Abby and Brittany: College and Beyond," Abby and Brittany expressed their excitement upon getting hired for the competitive position. Their principal was highly complimentary of their abilities and passion for education.
