Inside Jonathan Bennett's Real-Life Relationship With Jaymes Vaughan

Jonathan Bennett has been a household gem ever since the fan-favorite film, "Mean Girls." Created by Tina Fey and released in 2004, the film remains as quotable today as ever due to its underrated humor and relatability. Bennett portrayed the high school heartthrob, Aaron Samuels, a sweet, charming, and slightly aloof jock.

His kindness and (mandatory) early 2000s haircut were a few of the traits and characteristics that made the people at the school swoon over him. Needless to say, his character in the film truly put Bennett on the map, which led to an increase in popularity and additional projects. "I owe my entire life, my entire career" to the film. "Everything about who I am today I owe to Tina Fey, Lorne Michaels, and Lindsay Lohan," Bennett revealed to Salon in December 2022.

Since his time on Mean Girls, Bennett had roles in "Cheaper By the Dozen 2" as Bud McNulty, a small appearance on "Veronica Mars," as well as an eight-part role on the hit MTV series "Awkward," amongst many other roles including becoming the host of "Cake Wars."

His rise in stardom may have lent a hand to how he met his beau in real life. Although Jaymes Vaughn and Bennett didn't meet on the iconic "October 3rd" date," they do have a movie-worthy meet-cute story!

Jaymes Vaughn and Jonathan Bennett met during an interview

When you know, you know! Just ask Jonathan Bennett. Although Bennett's net worth is $1 million, per Celebrity Net Worth we are sure he will agree and say he hit the jackpot when he met Jaymes Vaughn. Now the pair are living their lives on their terms and that may mean tackling a lot of firsts such as being the first LGBTQ+ couple to be featured on The Knot

In an interview with the wedding publication in April 2021, the pair revealed they met during an interview while Bennett was on a press tour for "Halloween Wars." "I had never heard of him before, but when I saw him setting up to do the interview, I thought he was the most beautiful man I'd ever seen," he quipped. "I ran to the bathroom to fix my hair. I came out of the bathroom and his producer Jade was standing in front of me. I asked her this exact question: 'Am I about to meet my future husband?'" And she said, "I think so." The feelings were mutual because after the two fumbled through the interview, the pair exchanged numbers and Jaymes even shared that he felt "electricity," from his now husband.

The two recalled their initial kiss being a scene out of "The Notebook," complete with their first date of sitting at the beach and talking about similarities that drew the couple closer than either of them ever imagined.

Jonathan Bennett and Jaymes Vaughn sealed their love with a kiss

Jonathan Bennett and Jaymes Vaughn became official in 2017 and got engaged in November 2020 (per The Sun) and have been attached at the hip ever since. "I love how I can be unapologetically myself and I love that he loves me unconditionally for it," the Cake Wars Host revealed to People in November 2020. The love and admiration are mutual as Vaughn quipped, " I think the most special thing about our relationship is that we are actually each other's best friend first and foremost." Undoubtedly their love is certainly one for the books, however, the pair would agree that in their nuptials every detail was intentional with creating more awareness and acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community.

"We realized that our wedding is bigger than us," Bennett shared with Yahoo Life in April 2021. "We want to make sure that we help to identify businesses and vendors that gay couples can go to from the moment they want to get engaged until their honeymoon and find places where they're safe and celebrated," Vaughan added. Despite the hurdles faced during the process, the pair found their happily ever after and tied the knot in March 2022 at Unico Riviera Maya Hotel in Mexico, per Instagram.

"I got to marry my best friend! I knew we'd be emotional but I don't think either of us realized just how overwhelming that moment would be until we were in it," Vaughan shared with People in a subsequent article in March 2021.
