Dave Lawson: Succession Star Sarah Snook's Real-Life Husband

HBO Max's original series "Succession" is coming to an end with its final season, which premiered on March 26. The show follows a cutthroat family which owns a media empire and will step on each other to hold the reigns and power of the corporation, which is currently under the control of their father, Logan Roy (Brian Cox). The siblings at the forefront of this power struggle are the sad boy, Kendall Roy (Jeremy Strong), the only sister Shiv Roy (Sarah Snook), and Roman Roy (Kieran Culkin), the youngest and cockiest. Snook has been a main character in the series since it started and had a somewhat fraught or fickle relationship with her fiancé-turned-husband, Tom Wambsgans (Matthew Macfadyen). But who is the "Succession" star married to in real life?

Snook keeps her personal life on the down-low, which is kind of easy when you're Australian and so is your boo. But it's also thanks to the fact that she started dating — and married— her partner, Dave Lawson, during the pandemic. With a little bundle of joy on the way for the two as of this writing, here's a bit more about who Lawson is.

Dave Lawson is an Aussie, just like Sarah Snook, and a comedian

While you couldn't tell from Sarah Snook's great American accent while playing Shiv Roy in "Succession," Snook is Australian. Dave Lawson is from Melbourne, Australia, and Snook was born in Adelaide. He studied advertising and marketing at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology but didn't want to get a regular ol' job. So, with the help of a friend's casting agent mom, Lawson said on the "Funny in Failure" podcast that he started booking roles. This career led to him hosting different shows on Australia's version of Nickelodeon for many years, even hosting the Nickelodeon Australian Kids' Choice Awards.

He's been in 44 movies, even appearing in 2018's "Peter Rabbit" and its 2021 sequel. He also had a YouTube talk show called "Dave's Shed Show," which was distributed under Roadshow Films in 2018. Snook was a guest on the show, too, when things were just platonic.

Sarah Snook and Dave Lawson keep their relationship details pretty private

Snook and Lawson have known each other since 2014 but were always dating other people, so they kept their friendship just that. Even though they "lived together, traveled together, always excited to see each other," it never turned into a romantic bond, she told Vogue Australia. But when they quarantined together in 2020, they were finally both single and free to date each other. It obviously went well because they secretly got married in early 2021 during the still somewhat uncertain days of the pandemic. "At the beginning of the pandemic last year, I got locked down in Melbourne with one of my best mates and we fell in love," Snook said.

And just like their wedding was a low-key affair that wasn't public knowledge until the two wanted it to be, Snook revealed that she is very pregnant with their first child. Entertainment Tonight reported that Snook debuted her baby bump at the premiere of the fourth and final season of HBO Max's "Succession" on March 20. She told the outlet that she felt "great" and isn't far from her due date. "Like two months? Well, I'm at 32 weeks," she shared. She also said that she was pregnant while they filmed this last season, but since it was still early days she wasn't really showing and therefore they didn't have to do much to hide Snook's bump in Shiv Roy's screen time.
