A Look At Bachelor Alum Emily Ferguson And NHL Star William Karlsson's Relationship
Emily Ferguson rose to fame on ABC's "The Bachelor" when she and her identical twin sister, Haley Ferguson, appeared on Ben Higgins' season in 2016. Although the two didn't find love during their subsequent appearance on "Bachelor In Paradise" either, both ended up falling in love with hockey players. Emily actually slid into Las Vegas Golden Knights center William Karlsson's DMs and the two started getting to know one another. On an episode of the "Click Bait with Bachelor Nation" podcast, Emily admitted that she wasn't been super "into hockey" at the time, but she and Karlsson really hit it off and were "inseparable" once they met.
In December 2020, Karlsson got down on one knee and proposed to Emily. "I SAID YES! I get to marry the man of my dreams. This is a moment I've dreamed of since I was a little girl and it's more than I could have ever imagined because it's truly with my perfect person. I can't wait to grow old and laugh with you forever," she captioned an Instagram post showing off her new engagement ring. Karlsson proposed to Emily while they were on a hike with their dog, Obi, whom they adopted together in 2019. "I said yes to the love of my life while wearing sweatpants," Emily joked in the caption of an Instagram post one year after getting engaged. At that point, the former reality star was knee-deep in wedding planning, though she still made time to support her husband-to-be and the Knights, often attending games wearing custom Karlsson gear.
Emily Ferguson & William Karlsson got married in Las Vegas
In June 2022, Emily Ferguson took to Instagram to share a video of her and William Karlsson getting their marriage license. About one month later, the twosome exchanged vows on the roof of the Resorts World Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. "Officially Mr. & Mrs. Karlsson," the newlyweds captioned a joint Instagram post on July 24. "It's my dream wedding because I'm marrying my dream guy. If it's not him at the altar, I don't want it! Haha but seriously, he's everything I've ever dreamed of and more," Emily told Us Weekly. Emily's twin sister Haley, who had gotten married at the same hotel one month prior, served as Emily's matron of honor. Emily wore a white gown designed by Australia's Pallas Couture, while Karlsson opted for a patterned navy blue suit jacket and black suit pants.
Emily and Karlsson said "I do" in front of approximately 150 guests before heading to their reception, where they danced the night away. Emily changed into a mini-dress and platform Converse sneakers for the after-party, which included the couple's shared last name in lights, along with fog cannons.
Emily Ferguson gave birth to the couple's first child in May
Four months after tying the knot, Emily Ferguson and William Karlsson announced they were expecting their first child together. "Starting a family was something we've talked about since early on in our relationship and it is a dream come true to announce baby Karlsson. We are so grateful and excited to share this news and look forward to this next adventure together," Emily posted on Instagram in November 2022. Less than one week later, the couple revealed that they were expecting a baby boy. Emily posted quite a bit about her pregnancy, often keeping her fans in the loop when it came to how she was feeling and decorating the baby's nursery.
Beckham William Karlsson was born on May 12, just in time to watch his dad play in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Las Vegas Golden Knights are set to take on the Florida Panthers in a quest for the cup. In a candid Instagram post a week after her baby was born, Emily called labor and delivery the "hardest thing" she's ever done. Thankfully, William was present for the whole thing, despite being in the playoffs. "Will cut the umbilical cord," the new mom shared. We can't wait to see baby Beckham in his first Knights jersey!
