Everything We Know About Amy Schumer's Baby

After only a few months of dating, comedian Amy Schumer wed chef Chris Fischer in a surprise ceremony on Feb. 13, 2018. By summertime, pregnancy rumors were flying after the actress posted a photo on Instagram in which fans speculated the actress appeared to be sporting a baby bump.

The Inside Amy Schumer star quickly shot those rumors down in another Instagram post. "I am not pregnant," she said in the clip, while sipping a drink. "It looked like I was pointing to a bump or something, but I'm not. Lessa Evans and I have created a clothing line for all sizes and shapes at a chill price point. That's what I was trying to allude to, but thank you for thinking of my womb." However, less than four months later, the baby bump was real. Safe to say we can talk about her womb now, so here's everything we know about Amy Schumer's baby.

She made her announcement both hilarious and political

Leave it to a comedian to make their baby announcement hilarious. "About to announce some exciting news on @jessicayellin insta page," Schumer posted on Instagram, with a pic of her and Chris Fischer's faces photoshopped on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's bodies. "Please follow her for up to the minute #newsnotnoise she breaks down what's really going on. She agreed to post a lil noise today for me! Follow her and VOTE!!"

When fans raced to the CNN White House correspondent's Instagram story, they were given Schumer's "voting recommendations" with a line at the end that said, "I'm pregnant — Amy Schumer." Jessica Yellin then took to Twitter to share the candidate list and congratulate Schumer on her pregnancy. "I'm in the business of covering news not noise, but sometimes some happy noise comes along and you just have to share... Congrats @amyschumer!!" the journalist tweeted

Her thoughts on motherhood prove she's ready

During the promotional rounds for Snatched in 2017, Amy Schumer and co-star Goldie Hawn sat down for an interview with The Moms, and as the name suggests, the subject of motherhood came up. While claiming her "uterus remains empty," the comedian admitted she was ready to start a family.

"I've worked very hard to not be a mom," Schumer quipped. "But I'm 35, I'm sick of thinking of myself, you know? It's just like enough Amy, who cares?" When asked by host Denise Albert if motherhood is the "most annoying question that you get," Schumer replied, "No, are you serious? No, the most annoying question I get is always about ... like, so you're in a bathing suit in this movie..."

While speaking to Refinery29, Schumer was asked how mothers can instill confidence in their daughters. "They can teach them from example," she said. "If you see your mother looking in the mirror and going 'Ugh,' I think you learn that kind of behavior. Having your own confidence [as a mother] is the best way to [teach your children.]"

The baby has technically been arrested already

Amy Schumer was arrested Oct. 4, 2018 while protesting at the Hart Senate Office Building with a crowd of almost 300 women who opposed the nomination of now-Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. The comedian was pregnant at the time.

According to CNN, the protestors who were arrested received a citation and were ordered to pay $50 bail to be released without the misdemeanor charges of crowding, obstructing, or incommoding remaining on their permanent records. "No matter how this goes, they cannot keep us down," Schumer said at the protest (per Variety). "We will win. A vote for Kavanaugh is a vote saying women don't matter." The vote didn't go Schumer's way, but at least her baby will have a cool story to tell when kindergarten starts.

She wants to have an active pregnancy

In September 2018, Amy Schumer revealed on Instagram that she was taking boxing lessons to recover from lingering physical ailments old volleyball and surfing injuries. She credited her trainers for "pushing me to recovery beyond what I thought possible," adding that she has "laughed and cried...when I had major breakthroughs doing things I thought I would never be able to do again."

Now that she's bodysurfing and getting after it again, Schumer has no intention of slowing down during her pregnancy. When the press noted her high activity level, comparing it to preggo Meghan Markle's intensely busy schedule as the Duchess of Sussex, Schumer pulled no punches. "I look forward to competing with Markle every step of the way," she joked to the Los Angeles Times.

This baby will eat very well

It's essential that children receive proper nutrition to help them grow. That shouldn't be a problem for this little one, considering his father is a professional chef. Owner and operator of The Beach Plum Restaurant & Beetlebung Farm, Chris Fischer's restaurant (per Esquire) is "Martha Vineyard's ultimate dining destination" and "the Obamas' preferred date spot on the island." Fischer even penned a cookbook, The Beetlebung Farm Cookbook: A Year of Cooking on Martha's Vineyard. "The best part of writing a cookbook is being able to test all the recipes!" he told MV Times. "I was able to basically cook and eat all day long, and best of all, call it 'work!'"

That doesn't necessarily mean this kid will be born with a silver spoon in its mouth. In fact, manual labor could be in this child's future. "When I grew up, and during the summers, my whole family worked on the farm," Fischer told The Nourished Life. "Ugh, can't we just go to Chipotle, dad?"

The little one has a famous family tree

Not only is the baby's mother a famous comedian and actress and father a renowned chef, but the baby also has another well-known twig on its family tree — New York Sen. Chuck Schumer. According to Refinery29, the senator is "the first cousin of Amy Schumer's father," making Chuck Schumer the third cousin to Amy Schumer's baby.

The Schumers' familial relationship gained national attention when the pair held a joint press conference in 2015 to advocate for stricter gun laws following a deadly shooting in a movie theater that was playing Schumer's film, Trainwreck.

Schumer even came to the senator's defense when President Donald Trump accused him of crying "fake tears" over the president's proposed travel ban. "I know chuck Schumer and HE CANNOT act trust me," Amy posted on Instagram. "He can barely smile on cue. He can't help but be transparent and genuine. He was hurt for those people and all the people facing such unconstitutional injustice."

Expect this tyke to have the best toys

Remember when you were a kid and you wanted your parents to buy you a pony or the Batmobile? Well, Amy Schumer's baby will probably get a pony that can drive the Batmobile, because mom is loaded. According to Forbes, Schumer is "the first woman to ever make" its "list of top-paid comedians" after raking in a whopping $37.5 million in 2017.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Schumer "landed one of the largest book advance deals of all time" when Simon & Schuster paid her $9 million for the rights to her biography, "The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo." That figure landed Schumer the "third place record for highest book advance of all time, behind Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton (#1 at $15 million and #2 at $14 million)." Imagine the bouncy house that kind of cash could buy. We're a little jealous.
