2019 Grammy Award Nominees Announced

The 2019 Grammy Award nominations are in! Did your favorite artists make the cut?

On Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, the nominees for the 61st Annual Grammy Awards were announced. Artists Shawn Mendes, Alessia Cara, and Janelle Monáe, as well as Apple Music creative director Zane Lowe, revealed some of the nominations for the ceremony with the hosts of CBS This Morning. Other nominations were shared on Apple Music, while the rest were announced in a press release.

Rapper Kendrick Lamar leads the pack with eight total nominations, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year for "All the Stars," as noted by Rolling Stone. Drake follows closely behind with seven noms. Music producer Boi-1da and and singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile both received five nominations each, while rappers Cardi B and Childish Gambino trailed behind with five noms each.

The period of eligibility for an artist's work to be nominated for the 2019 award ceremony was from Oct. 1, 2017 to Sept. 30, 2018. Recording Academy members will vote throughout the month of January to determine which artists should win.

The 2019 Grammy Awards will air live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 10, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS.
