The Truth Behind Sharon And Ozzy Osbourne's Split
Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, metal's First Couple, reportedly split over the weekend of May 7, 2016—after 33 years together! That's practically three lifetimes in Hollywood. What happened to their kooky romance?
It's not the first time they've split
Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne first took a much-needed break in 1989 when the Black Sabbath frontman nearly strangled her in an alcohol and drug-fueled rage. They pressed pause again in April 2013 when the rocker relapsed into alcohol and drug addiction. In 2014, Sharon penned a missive for the Daily Mail detailing Ozzy's substance abuse and the toll it took on their marriage, writing, "I would never have imagined our anniversary would be the start of one of the worst periods in our marriage. I thought, 'I can't carry this anymore. It's what I have always done and I'm tired.' I said, 'I want a divorce.'" They called off the split when Ozzy cleaned up again.
Ozzy cheated on Sharon
Sources told Page Six that Sharon had a feeling Ozzy was sneaking off for a while, and it turns out, he was reportedly hooking up with his hairstylist, Michelle Pugh. "She suspected for some time things were going on," an insider said. A source told The Sun, "Sharon went ballistic with Ozzy and accused him of having the affair. She said she had suspected something had been going on for some time and now had proof," the source added. "People are wondering whether Sharon went through Ozzy's phone before accusing him. She has done that before but in the past she was checking if he'd been using drugs." The Prince of Darkness admitted to sleazing around, according to an insider for The Sun. "Ozzy was extremely sheepish and admitted being close to Michelle," the source side. "It is likely Sharon has discovered calls and possibly meetings."
It's not the first time Ozzy has strayed. Sharon revealed on The Talk (via Us Weekly) that Ozzy had a habit of getting a little too much help from, er, the help. "We used to have four nannies, because I had three children," Sharon dished. "I would work five days a week, I would travel. I'm telling you, they were the bane of my existence," she said. "They were all wanting to be celebrities. They were all wanting money...I caught two of them in bed with Ozzy!" She quickly added, "It was at different times, but it goes on and on."
Ozzy is still sober...for now
Sources insist that while Ozzy has had substance abuse issues in the past, they actually haven't played a role in the couple's issues this time around. An insider insisted to The Sun, "I don't think Ozzy has relapsed."
"I have been sober for three and a quarter years," Ozzy told E! News. "I have not touched drugs or alcohol in that time. Any reports that I am not sober are completely inaccurate."
Other sources close to the family told Page Six that while Ozzy may not have relapsed yet, falling off the wagon could be imminent.
They're living apart
Sharon reportedly kicked Ozzy out of their house, but it's unclear where he's actually staying now. Sources tell E! News that Ozzy has been staying with a family member until everything calms down, but other insiders told Page Six, "Ozzy is in a hotel somewhere and has taken his credit cards and some money with him. But he is not brilliant on his own and is a bit like a puppy—he goes missing but then usually turns up sooner or later."
The whole family is heartbroken
A source told Page Six, "Sharon is devastated...The kids are devastated, and [daughter] Kelly is very disappointed with her father for hurting her mother—especially after putting up with his repeated rehabs." Insiders told The Sun that the Osbourne children (Kelly, Jack, and Aimee) were desperately trying to reach out to their father, but he's reportedly been fairly unresponsive.
They'll probably reunite
As messy as their relationship is right now, sources are cautiously optimistic about the fate of Ozzy and Sharon's marriage. A source close to the couple told People that the split rumors are "sort of true," but added, "he'll be back." Another insider told Page Six, "[Divorce] is not something that has been discussed as of yet. Sharon needs space and time before making any decisions." Ozzy was spotted May 9, 2016, looking sullen but still wearing his wedding ring.
