Rapper Bow Wow Arrested For Alleged Battery
Rapper Bow Wow found himself behind bars this weekend.
In the early morning hours of Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, the former child rapper was arrested along with his on-again, off-again girlfriend, fellow Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta star Leslie Holden, following an alleged altercation between the two in Atlanta, Ga., TMZ reports.
According to law enforcement sources cited by the gossip rag, Bow Wow (real name Shad Moss) and Holden, who's also known as Kiyomi Leslie, each reportedly claimed that they'd been assaulted by the other during an apparent fight when cops arrived on the scene at around 4:15 a.m.
"Both parties did sustain visible minor injuries," an Atlanta Police Department public information officer later told Us Weekly, adding, "Officers were unable to determine the primary aggressor of the altercation." As such, Bow Wow, 31, and Holden were reportedly taken into police custody at the Fulton County Jail and face the same misdemeanor charge of battery substantial physical harm.
At the time of this writing, the investigation remains ongoing, and both parties have yet to publicly comment on the matter. While the "Bow Wow (That's My Name)" rapper has since been released on $8,000 bond, it remains unclear whether Holden, whose bail was set at the same price, is still in jail.
Bow Wow unfortunately isn't the only rapper the make headlines over legal trouble recently. As Nicki Swift previously reported, Tekashi 6ix9ine, 22, pleaded guilty to nine counts last week, including "racketeering, conspiracy, firearms offenses and narcotics trafficking." According to The New York Times, the controversial hip hop star, who was arrested in November 2018 on charges stemming from his alleged involvement with the Nine Trey Bloods gang in 2017, could "face a mandatory minimum of 47 years in prison and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment." Tekashi's sentencing is set to take place on Jan. 24, 2020.
