Celebs Who Can't Stand Jeffree Star
Few celebrities have managed to make as many A-list enemies and take part in as many high-profile feuds as Jeffree Star. Never one to shy away from controversy, this YouTuber and all-around beauty and fashion entrepreneur has made countless eyebrow-raising statements that have, in turn, prompted some very public spats.
Star has pretty much built his personal brand on always speaking his mind and saying exactly what he thinks, even if those statements prove highly controversial. Needless to say, the cumulative effect of all this dirt and drama is not a good look. Star's long list of spats extends to famous tattoo artist and former bestie Kat von D as well as countless beauty vloggers. He's publicly called out his peers on everything from the quality of their makeup to alleged sexual harassment, and many of those targets have had plenty to say in return. The following celebs seemingly can't stand Jeffree Star, but you don't have to take our word for it...
Kat von D thinks Jeffree Star is a 'money-driven monster'
Kat von D and Jeffree Star were friends for years — von D tattooed much of Star's body and even named a lipstick after him — until it all blew up in July 2016. Taking to Facebook, von D posted a photo of Star with a big red stop symbol across his face. "After years of making excuses for, and rationalizing Jeffree's inappropriate behavior (including, promoting drug use, racism, and bullying) I can no longer hold my tongue after recent events," she said, announcing that she was pulling the "Jeffree" shade from stores.
Von D also posted a YouTube video claiming that Star used packaging designed by her friend, B.J. Betts, without credit and without payment. "I think it's really wrong, what Jeffree's done," she said. "You can't sit there and post all these videos of you, like 'Get Ready With Me in My Rolls Royce,' and then not pay a guy who worked really hard for you." She added, "The Jeffree that he is now is a monster. This attention-seeking, fame-desiring, money-driven monster that I want no part in."
Noting that she regrets introducing Star to her makeup production factory, von D ended her rant with gusto: "You can pick on all these other people that might be intimidated and won't say anything back, but Jeffree, I'm not scared of you."
MakeupShayla claims Jeffree Star lies 'for attention'
MakeupShayla was dealt a major reason to dislike Jeffree Star when he came after her ... and brought receipts. In May 2016, Star publicly accused the celebrity makeup artist of disrespecting fellow YouTuber Mariale at a media event. "@MakeupShayla telling another female their face is disproportioned and being so disrespectful, is a disgrace to every female on this planet," Star tweeted (via Oh No They Didn't). "You said that word for word in front of everyone, so either stop drinking or remember what comes out of your mouth..."
MakeupShayla denied Star's accusations, tweeting: "You are making things up obviously for attention. You are being messy and disrespectful toward someone you don't even know."
Star went full throttle with his response, calling MakeupShayla a "broke f***ing rat," threatening to "beat [her] to the f***ing ground and mean it," and even sharing a DM in which Mariale thanks Star for standing up for her. "Don't ever call me a liar. Own up to what you said," Star quipped. "Proof. Case closed."
Jeffree Star's trolling took a bite out of Jerrod Blandino's brand
One of Jeffree Star's biggest enemies might just be Jerrod Blandino, co-founder and chief creative officer of Too Faced Cosmetics. The drama started in April 2017, when Blandino seemingly implied that he was responsible for the wildly popular unicorn makeup trend. By using the hashtag #ThereArentUnicornsInTheAmazon on Instagram, Blandino appeared to take a dig at Tarte Cosmetics, which had launched an Amazonian clay unicorn-themed collection.
Star took to Snapchat to slam Blandino (via PopSugar): "Who is that delusional and dumb to think that they invented unicorn makeup?" That shade must have struck a chord because Blandino quickly deleted the controversial hashtag, but it was too late. Star continued to attack Blandino's character by criticizing the Too Faced collaboration with NikkieTutorials. Referring to a Sanders Kennedy video in which it was revealed that NikkieTutorials was allegedly paid $50,000 for a collab that earned $9 million, Star tweeted: "Hey @jerrodblandino... Should I expose how shady you were with @NikkieTutorials's contract or maybe save that for another day?" The ensuing backlash against Blandino got so bad that he had to disable comments on his Instagram posts, according to Allure.
Jackie Aina thinks Jeffree Star is racist
In 2017, Jeffree Star apologized for his racist history, which included "joking" about throwing acid on a black woman to lighten her skin, but Jackie Aina wasn't having it. She made an anti-haul video in which she told fans she wouldn't support Star's products. "I just have a deep issue with the anti-black comments," she said. This sparked a Twitter feud, which she tried to shut down by stating, "I make content that explains explicitly why I do not support certain people and their brands. It's ALWAYS based on morals and ethics."
That June, Aina tweeted a screenshot showing that Star had blocked her on Instagram. That set off another firestorm as Star tweeted (via Revelist): "Her anti-haul is her most viewed video in three months. Should I send an invoice? I'm a hot topic, next." The drama boiled over in September 2018, when Star's former hairstylist, Daved Anthony Munoz, shared screenshots to reportedly prove that Star still uses the N-word and had supposedly even called Aina a "gorilla."
Aina responded via an open letter. "I have not and will not excuse his blatantly racist behavior and — not his past references to me in derogatory terms, his use of the N-words nor his efforts to eliminate spaces and opportunities for people of color," she said. "No one in the community should feel like they are protected enough to continuously say things to make black women feel ugly and ashamed in their own skin."
Jeffree Star dragged James Charles to a 'really scary place'
James Charles may be one of the biggest beauty vloggers in the world, but he was put through the "darkest time" of his life at the hands of Jeffree Star and Tati Westbrook, following Westbrook's 37th birthday party. The members of this trio were regular collaborators and friends, but following the bash, Westbrook created a tell-all video accusing Charles of sexually harassing a waiter.
"You were talking in detail about things you wanted to do to the waiter and when I said 'James, he's straight,' your response was 'doesn't matter I'm a celebrity' — so freaking gross," Westbrook claims in the clip. Star jumped in to add fuel to the fire, tweeting that Charles "is a danger to society." Charles' brother, Ian, responded (via Seventeen): "Why does everyone act so tough over the internet?" Star shot back: "Why is your brother a predator??" Star also admitted to bombarding Charles with "vicious text messages."
Though the accuracy of the accusations against Charles is questionable — the waiter later claimed he was flattered and actually kissed Charles — that hasn't stopped a flood of hate from washing over Charles' career. He was forced to end his business relationship with Star, who'd been producing his merch line, and revealed that his "thoughts got to a really scary place" in the midst of the drama.
Kylie Jenner took Jeffree Star off her press list
Kylie Jenner and Jeffree Star have been embroiled in a feud for years. The whole thing apparently started in April 2016, when Star dragged Jenner's beauty launch through the mud. Tweeting a photo of defective lip gloss wands, Star voiced his disappointment in Jenner's Lip Kits, which reportedly prompted her to send customers free replacements. Rather than applauding her for making things right with consumers, Star slammed Jenner again the very next month, telling Racked, "She found a lab that makes a $5 formula and they're called ColourPop. They gave her the same exact one with her name on it and charged $20 more. I'm bored."
His snarky comments continued. He even accused Jenner of copying his products. "With all that f***ing money she's made, why did @kyliecosmetics use the SAME PACKAGING as my liquid lipsticks that have been out since 2014???" he tweeted (via Seventeen) in December 2017. That was apparently the last straw for the young beauty mogul, who reportedly removed Star from her Kylie Cosmetics press list in February 2018.
Although she hasn't engaged with Star publicly, it's fair to assume she probably can't stand the YouTuber at this point, particularly after he got personal and criticized her March 2019 Forbes cover. Taking issue with Jenner being dubbed the youngest self-made billionaire in the world, Star tweeted: "I declined the feature so they had to pick someone..."
NikkieTutorials supposedly had a boatload of problems with Jeffree Star
Though he'd defended her in the past, Jeffreey Star later went after NikkieTutorials, calling her makeup palette "so sh**ty." These two ended their friendship and unfollowed each other on social media, but according to YouTuber Sanders Kennedy, NikkieTutorials still couldn't get away from Star.
According to Kennedy, the two had a "blowout argument on a boat" in 2017. Multiple sources supposedly told the vlogger that during a Benefit Cosmetics press trip to Necker Island, "Jeffree Star approached NikkieTutorials, screamed at her, made a scene, then started to call security." Kennedy said Star confirmed that "yes, this did go down, but no one was screaming at each other." Star reportedly glossed over the gossip, claiming he and NikkieTutorials "were just talking and saying that this isn't going to work out." Regardless, all signs suggest these former friends clearly can't stand being around each other anymore.
