Where Does Emma Watson Live And How Big Is Her House?

It probably won't surprise you that the cast members of the Harry Potter movies are worth quite a bit of money, and while Emma Watson took a break from the movie biz, that hasn't seemed to hurt her financial status at all. In fact, this actress was smart and began to bolster her fortune when she was still just a teenager by investing in real estate.

Watson landed her role with the wizarding film franchise when she was still just a child, and she reportedly didn't gain access to all her earnings until she reached adulthood. According to The Richest, she was able to tap into about $12 million when she turned 18 and used that money to buy a "$1.2 million luxury ski chalet in France. [She] also spent thousands on furnishing and renovating."

A friend told The Telegraph, "The house is Emma's way of celebrating her recent straight As at A-level and finally getting her hands on some of her hard-earned cash. She worked really hard this year and didn't have much of a birthday party so this was her present to herself." (If we skip a birthday party, will we also get a million-dollar home?) Seriously, it's wonderful that she could treat herself.

While details about her French chalet made headlines, information about another home Watson purchased was shrouded in secrecy.

Emma Watson bought her house in a secretive way

In 2016, "someone leaked over 11 million confidential documents that involved the financial information of several people," reported The Richest. Those documents were called the Panama Papers, and Emma Watson was one of the wealthy folks whose money-related info made its way out into the world. That's how people found out that she had purchased a home in a rather secretive way. Apparently, the documents revealed that Watson "has an offshore company in the British Virgin Islands called Falling Leaves" and it was through that company that she bought a house in London that was worth $3.3 million, The Richest reports.

The star's representatives addressed the situation and denied that anything shady was going on, instead, telling The Independent, "UK companies are required to publicly publish details of their shareholders and therefore do not give her the necessary anonymity required to protect [Watson's] personal safety, which has been jeopardized in the past owing to such information being publicly available."

Many stars have faced obsessed fans, and Watson is among them. She's dealt with stalkers in the past, which is why she's taken certain measures to protect her safety. We can certainly understand why she wants to keep her home a secure and private place.
