Grace Gummer: The Truth About Meryl Streep's Daughter

Grace Gummer is an accomplished actress who you may have spotted in films like 2012's Frances Ha and 2014's The Homesman, as well as on shows like The Newsroom, American Horror Story, Extant, and Mr. Robot. She also happens to be someone who has a famous parent. If you hadn't already guessed due to the fact that this is one daughter who looks just like her mother, Gummer is the child of Hollywood legend Meryl Streep.

Streep and her husband, sculptor Don Gummer, have four children, according to The Telegraph: Henry, Mamie, Grace, and the youngest, Louisa. While Henry went the musical route when it came to his career and Louisa is a model, both Grace and Mamie followed their mother into the acting business.

When it comes to having relatives in the industry, Gummer told Refinery29 in 2014, "We're a really close family, so we talk about everything. I think as any other family would sit down and give each other advice about life and work, we definitely do since we know the business that we're in. It's easier to talk about it with each other." We wonder if she was also able to talk to her family about her surprisingly short marriage.

Grace Gummer was married for less than two months before her separation

Grace Gummer's acting career may be flourishing, but it turns out that her love life isn't rolling along as smoothly. The actress filed for divorce from her husband, musician Tay Strathairn, on March 23, 2020, according to People magazine. However, it turns out that she split from her spouse much earlier. Ultimately, the two spent less than two months together as a married couple.

The pair first met as children in 1993 on the set of Meryl Streep's movie The River Wild, which also starred Tay's dad, David Strathairn, Extra notes. While it's unclear when their relationship sparked as adults, there were apparently rumors about a romance in 2017 thanks to the fact that Grace and Tay attended the premiere of the HBO documentary Spielberg together, and also showed up to Emmy Rossum and Sam Esmail's wedding that same year.

The pair decided to make it official themselves when they reportedly got married on July 10, 2019, however, they separated the next month, on August 21, with Grace citing irreconcilable differences as the cause for the split. While a break up is never easy, hopefully, Meryl will be there for her daughter as she moves on after her surely unexpectedly brief marriage.
