The Truth About Susan Boyle's First Boyfriend
Susan Boyle charmed the world when she sang "I Dreamed a Dream" during her 2009 Britain's Got Talent audition. The more Boyle shared, the more fans fell in love with her. However, she hadn't found love herself. Well, aside from her love of singing, of course.
Before she hit the stage that day, the then-47-year-old singer dished about her personal life. She revealed, "Normally, I live along with my cat, called Pebbles, but I've never been married. I've never been kissed. Oh, shame, but it's not happening." There's zero "shame" in Boyle living life by her own terms on her own schedule, but as her star rose, the fascination with her personal life increased. Not only that, but fans just couldn't help rooting for the songstress.
In a 2013 interview, Boyle dished on her husband — on-screen, that is. She played a married woman in the movie The Christmas Candle. E! News reported that Boyle shared, "I had to kiss him, too, as we had a kissing scene." She added, "It was my first on-screen kiss. It was lovely. I didn't know about the kissing scene when I signed up, but I wasn't complaining."
The Brit admitted, "I want to find a man but it's hard with all the traveling I do." Boyle also revealed, "I really want to start going on dates and I've asked my friends to set me up with a good man — if they can find one. I'd like to settle down one day."
Susan Boyle dated a doctor a few years back
Word on the street, i.e. the internet, was that Susan Boyle was dating an American doctor back in 2014. The Sun (via Us Weekly) reported she met him at a fancy hotel in Florida. The Britain's Got Talent alum divulged at the time, "It's early days but we enjoy each other's company. We just got talking in the hotel and I thought he seemed friendly enough. He wasn't a fan but he knew who I was."
Apparently he invited her to lunch, where they had a "nice chat" about "lots of things," including their work. "He was the perfect gentleman and even paid the bill. Afterwards we exchanged details. When we said goodbye he gave me a peck of the cheek," Boyle said.
Keeping things vague, she added, "I hope he comes over. I don't want to say any more about who he is right now as that would be unfair on him. All I'll say is we are around the same age and he was a very nice guy." It was widely assumed that Boyle was dating the mystery doctor ever since. However, that may not have actually been the case.
Susan Boyle hasn't gone on a date in six years
In a February 2020 interview with The Sun, Susan Boyle confessed that her last date was six years ago, which lines up with her 2014 hotel lunch date with a doctor. If they were in a full-blown relationship, they probably would have gone on at least one more date, right? Not only that, but Boyle remarked, "I had a date in America six years ago, which lasted exactly 45 minutes." That makes it sound like the media jumped the gun on that whole "Susan Boyle is dating a doctor" story back in 2004.
While she had nothing but good things to say about the man, the date did actually bring some drama. She revealed, "I went for a massage in the spa of a hotel and met a doctor and then we went out for lunch. I didn't tell anyone and my team thought I'd been kidnapped." She continued, "They were really panicking because I had a show that night. The guy was nice, but he wasn't for me. I couldn't be dealing with keeping up with the correspondence."
Even if the date didn't lead to a long-term romance, at least she got a good story out of the experience.
Susan Boyle wants to be a mom, even without a boyfriend
Whether Susan Boyle is single or not, she won't let her relationship status interfere with her life plans. In December 2019, Boyle revealed that she intends to become a foster mother in summer 2020. She declared to The Scottish Sun, "I love children." The singer also admitted, "I've never had any of my own, that's my biggest regret."
Boyle even mused, "I [have] a lovely house, why not share it?" She didn't say if she currently has a love interest. However, she did mention that doctor from back in the day, stating, "I did have a gentleman friend, a doctor." She also shared, "If I get fan letters from men, I'm flattered that they like me."
She didn't mention if she responds to those fan letters, but Boyle has always kept the primary focus on her singing. Of course, there is a fascination with Boyle's personal life. Fans have been invested in her life since her Britain's Got Talent audition. However, she's kept the details of her life pretty private during her decade in the spotlight. It's pretty unlikely that she will share much more than she has, but her fans would welcome it if she did.
