The Truth About Lil Wayne's Ex-Wife

Antonia "Toya" Johnson was a part of Lil Wayne's life long before he became a household name. In a 2014 interview with BET, Johnson confirmed that they got together when they were teenagers and welcomed their daughter, Reginae Carter, when she was 14 and the rapper was 16. The couple got married in 2004 and ended up divorcing two years later. Johnson admitted that as Lil Wayne's career began to skyrocket, their relationship began to fall apart.

She told BET, "It was a lot. I had to deal with a lot of females. I was put out of school for fighting. There was a lot of drama with dating a young rapper that was very popular in the city." Ultimately, the childhood sweethearts had totally different lifestyles. She explained, "I'm a person that's very family oriented. I do a lot of things with my family, my daughter. His career is totally different." Despite those differences, the two of them are still on good terms.

In 2011, Johnson married music producer Memphitz Wright, but they divorced in 2016. Essence reported that she filed for divorce, claiming that their marriage was "irretrievably broken and there is no hope of reconciliation." However, Wright and Johnson ended up being friends as well. He even congratulated his ex on the birth of her second daughter in 2018 with a sweet Instagram post. She welcomed her daughter, Reign, with Robert "Red" Rushing, an Atlanta-based entrepreneur

Rushing and Johnson announced their engagement on Instagram in November 2019.
