Jennifer Aniston has a lot of famous friends — Jimmy Kimmel, Courteney Cox, and Ellen DeGeneres, to name a few — but her friendship with Reese Witherspoon is adored by many. The actresses both made their movie debuts in the early '90s — Witherspoon's first film was The Man in the Moon in 1991, while Aniston landed her first credited role in 1993's Leprechaun — and from there, their careers skyrocketed in Hollywood. Aniston became a household name when she starred as Rachel Green on Friends from 1994 to 2004, while Witherspoon was deemed America's sweetheart thanks to movies like Legally Blonde and Sweet Home Alabama.
Witherspoon and Aniston are both powerhouses in their own right, but when Witherspoon made a guest appearance as Rachel's younger sister, Jill, on two episodes of Friends in 2000, it was apparent there was chemistry between the two ladies. Even though Aniston and Witherspoon don't always post photos together on social media, the two have formed a solid connection over the years. So much so, the Wild star and the Horrible Bosses alum went on to collaborate and star in AppleTV+'s hit show The Morning Show in November 2019.

Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon's friendship dates back to the early 2000s when the two acted opposite one another on television. "We met on the set of Friends; I played her sister," Witherspoon told Harper's BAZAAR in October 2019. "I was 23 years old and had just had a baby."
"I was nursing [daughter] Ava on set, and Jen just kept going, 'You have a baby?'" the Legally Blonde actress recalled. "I was like, 'I know, it's weird.' And I remember her being like, 'Where are you going?' And I was like, 'I'm pumping!'"
However, the situation was far from awkward, as Witherspoon explained to the outlet that Aniston was "so sweet to [her]." In fact, the Friends star helped her nail her performance, which helped solidify their bond even more. "I was really nervous, and she was like, 'Oh, my gosh — don't worry about it!'" Witherspoon admitted.
"I marveled at her ability to perform in front of a live audience like that with no nerves," Witherspoon raved about Aniston's acting skills. "They would change all the lines and she was so effortlessly affable, bubbly, and sunny. We've been friends ever since."
Reese Witherspoon has a 'major girl crush on Jennifer Aniston'
Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon are besties in real life, so it's no surprise that the pair can't help but gush about each other while doing interviews. In 2011, the Big Little Lies star told reporters at ELLE's 18th annual Women in Hollywood event (via People) that Aniston is "an awesome friend."
"On one hand, she is this gorgeous, breathtaking beauty that men lose their thought process and their speech patterns when they see her and then on the other hand, she's a woman who lets you in," Witherspoon added about Aniston.
In 2012, Witherspoon declared she has a "major girl crush on Jennifer Aniston" during an interview with Conan O'Brien."Doesn't everybody have a crush on Jennifer? Like, dogs have crushes on Jennifer Aniston," Witherspoon quipped. "I played her younger sister on Friends, mainly so I could meet Jennifer Aniston. She's just so lovable and amazing."
Luckily, the feeling is mutual. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the 2015 Oscars, the Friends alum called Witherspoon "so cute" and "so pretty," adding, "She's my little sister, even if she's my TV sister."

Why 'The Morning Show' was the perfect opportunity for Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston
Almost 20 years after Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston appeared on Friends together, the two finally reunited on AppleTV+'s hit series The Morning Show in 2019, where they play news anchors who are dealing with the #MeToo movement in the workplace. So, why did it take so long for the Hollywood stars to appear together on the small screen? "We would keep meeting and go, 'What movie should we make together? Let's do a movie together,'" Witherspoon told CBS This Morning in October 2019.
"We've tried for a while," Aniston added, but according to Witherspoon, the pair "never really found the right thing." Luckily, The Morning Show "came up and it just felt perfect," the Little Fires Everywhere star explained.
Clearly, the show was a success since both actresses were nominated for a Golden Globe award, and Aniston even took home a SAG award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series in January 2020. Of course, Aniston couldn't help but gush over working with Witherspoon. "She's so unbelievably talented, and her as a producer is inspiring," she told People. "We've been doing this for the last 10 years separately, but now we get to join our forces together. It's very exciting."
