The Truth About Brittany Cartwright And Kristen Doute's Relationship
Vanderpump Rules stars Kristen Doute and Brittany Cartwright became fast friends when Cartwright moved from Kentucky to Los Angeles to be with her then-boyfriend and fellow cast member, Jax Taylor. But the odd pair had many scratching their heads. After all, Kristen is a devout vegetarian and Brittany has a propensity for chowing down on chicken wings and beer cheese (no shade!)

For those who don't already know, Both Kristen Doute and Brittany Cartwright have had sex with Jax Taylor. Any diehard Vanderpump Rules fan remembers exactly where they were when Jax admitted to hooking up with Kristen, who was Tom Sandoval's girlfriend at the time.
After repeated denials by both Jax and Kristen, the truth finally came out in Season 2. What was especially upsetting? Kristen had betrayed the trust of her longtime gal pal AND Jax's former girlfriend, Stassi Schroeder all in one fell swoop. Can we say MESSY?! But in true Vanderpump fashion, all had been swept under the rug never to be discussed again by the following season.
In Doute's new book, He's Making You Crazy, the former reality television star 'fessed up to her part in the transgression in a chapter titled, "I Lied."
"At the end of the day, this is my book and this is my voice and with my self-love, I had to say, 'You know what, I'm not blaming him for this, I'm actually taking the heat for it.' I just want to explain where my brain was at because I think a lot of women have gone through this and, you know, they have had affairs or they've messed up...," she told Us Weekly about the chapter.
As for whether Brittany feels awkward about the hookup, she seems unbothered by it. Maybe that's because Jax has gotten frisky with many people in the Vanderpump Rules universe.
Wait, did Brittany Cartwright and Kristen Doute hook up?
One might also recall the rumors that Kristen Doute and Brittany Cartwright hooked up, gossip Jax Taylor spread during Vanderpump Rules Season 6. Jax alleged that Brittany and Kristen shared more than a drunken kiss during an alcohol-fueled night in, but not so fast. Kristen was quick to call BS on the rumor during an interview with Bravo TV, sharing, "I think that Jax is a thrill-seeker, and I think he gets bored and he likes to stir up drama if there's none of his own."
She added, "It did really surprise me that over the summer that he kind of took that out on Brittany. But at the end of the day, we can all laugh about it now. We know the truth... Like, you don't have to keep stirring the pot. But that's Jax."
Jax, who told E! News in November 2016 that he wasn't bothered by the supposed hookup, has stuck to his story. "Why would I make up such an absurd thing?"
Will we ever know the truth about the alleged hookup between Kristen and Jax's "Kentucky muffin", aka Brittany? Probably not. Both Jax AND Kristen don't have the best track record when it comes to telling the truth, and to be honest, their sex lives are none of our business.
Kristen Doute and Brittany Cartwright are still close
On June 9, 2020, Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute were fired from Vanderpump Rules for their problematic behavior toward Faith Stowers, a Black woman and military vet who made some appearances on the show. The two reportedly called the police on Stowers in 2018, sharing their suspicion that she was involved in a Los Angeles crime spree, according to Page Six. To be clear — the former reality star was not involved.
One might presume that with all of the turmoil going on, the cast members might turn on one another. It appears, however, that Kristen and Brittany are still as tight as ever. Amidst the Vanderpump scandal taking the Bravo world by storm, Brittany's mother was reportedly hospitalized "due to serious complications from bladder surgery," a rep told People. Kristen took to Instagram to garner support and prayer for her friend's mother, sharing in an Instagram post, per the outlet, "Please, everyone, keep @brittany momma @sherri.cartwright in your prayers, thoughts, spiritual/higher power thoughts... whatever it is you believe in. Thank you."
One thing's for certain: Although Kristen may be axed from the show, she's still finding ways to support Brittany. Cameras rolling or not.
