What Nikki Reed Has Been Up To Since Twilight
When the Twilight film premiered in 2008, many eyes were on Edward Cullen (Robert Pattison) and Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) as they vied for Isabelle "Bella" Swan (Kristen Stewart) on the big screen. But by the last film's release — Breaking Dawn in 2012, there was another character that unexpectedly pulled at the heartstrings of many avid fans of the series — Rosalie Hale.
Played by Nikki Reed, Rosalie's role was arguably one of the best in terms of character development and her evolving relationship with Bella throughout the series. Thanks to Reed's impressive acting, Rosalie's multi-layered personality was brought to life as she transitioned from a cold and distant vampire to one with a tragic, yet compelling backstory.
But it's been a while since we caught up with the actor who brought Rosalie to life. So what has she been up to since her work on the Twilight set? Fear not, the series' end in 2012 did not mark the twilight (see what we did there?) of Nikki Reed's career.
Nikki Reed has many talents
Since starring in Twilight, the actor has starred in at least 11 movies and shorts, and three TV series. She's played roles in films ranging in genre from paranormal romances like In Your Eyes to comedy mysteries such as Murder of a Cat.
She has also stepped up her side hustle game, launching a fashion brand called Bayou With Love in 2017 that features sustainable sportswear, a unique find in the fashion industry. Her environmentally friendly work on the brand even landed her a feature in Vogue, which profiled few labels that are consciously going green.
"I wanted to bring [my community] products with a meaningful story that they're proud to wear, because I think once you give people ownership and the power to make decisions that have an impact, they feel like they're a part of something bigger than themselves," Reed told the magazine. "And at the end of the day, I think that's what being a human being is all about."
Nikki Reed got divorced
Not only has Nikki Reed ben busy at work, but she has also led an active love life. Case in point: Right around the time Twilight ended, Nikki Reed tied the knot with singer and songwriter Paul McDonald. But after two and a half years of marriage, the two decided to call it quits in 2014, People reported.
Before the announcement, she had told the publication that her work-life balance was an integral part of her marriage to McDonald. "It's important to communicate and stay on the same page," she said. "With what we do for a living, it's important we make each other know they come first."
And it seems like that was also the reason the two decided to amicably divorce. "After much consideration, Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald are ending their marriage. They have been living separately for the past six months due to work obligations," Reed's representative said at the time.
Nikki Reed found love again
As the saying goes, when one door closes, another opens. And Reed's next door led her to Ian Somerhalder, who played Damon Salvatore in The Vampire Diaries. It seems like both Reed and Rosalie have a similar type, huh?
The pair got hitched in 2015, shortly after Reed's first marriage ended. And two years after their intimate wedding, the lovebirds announced Reed was having a baby. The actor was thrilled about the news, telling Today that she found a "new and powerful appreciation" for her body.
Reed's daughter Bodhi, who was born in 2017, seemed to completely change Reed's life from a busy traveling actress to a hard-working yet family-oriented woman. "We're ready to have our feet planted on the ground and just nest again," she told People in 2018. "We live such crazy nomadic lifestyles all over the place, on planes, and [we've had] to uproot and move. Now that we're a family, the whole family goes together so that Mom and Dad can both be there at every second to witness every milestone and everything that's happening."
The couple settled down in Los Angeles, where Reed continues to balance her professional and personal life as a mom, actor, and business entrepreneur.
