Jim Carrey Has One Of The Biggest Age-Gap Marriages In Hollywood Right Now
Comedian and actor Jim Carrey is a married man. TMZ broke the news of his marriage to his partner, Min Ah, in September 2026, and a spokesperson confirmed the wedding to People. While he has always been quite private about his personal life, fans were stunned to hear about the seemingly sudden wedding. The two went officially public only seven months before the wedding, but they were first spotted together when Carrey made a rare public appearance in February 2022 to attend the Judd Apatow and Friends – A Benefit show in Los Angeles. In photos of the actor walking outside shared by Just Jared, Min Ah seems to be by his side.
But even with so little information out there about Carrey and his wife, there's one detail about the couple that's decidedly hard to miss, and that's their major age gap. While many celeb couples have a bigger age gap than you thought, theirs may be one of the biggest. Carrey was 64 years old at his wedding, Min Ah was only 32 — exactly half his age — according to Hello! magazine. Meanwhile, the "Grinch" star's only child, a daughter named Jane Erin Carrey, whom he shares with his first wife, Melissa Womer, is 39 years old. Despite the age gap, the couple seems to be going strong. In fact, Jane and her son, Jackson, joined Carrey and his then-girlfriend during her first public appearance at the 51st César Film Awards in early 2026.
Carrey subtly gushed about Min Ah while accepting his Honorary César Award at the star-studded event. He stood on stage and accepted the award, saying, in French, "Thank you to my sublime companion, Min Ah. I love you, Min Ah" (via People). It was certainly a grand way to introduce his love to the world.
Jim Carrey changed his tune about marriage years after vowing never to do it again
Jim Carrey's marriage to Min Ah is quite a surprise for another reason, as he previously spoke about being against the idea of ever doing it again. Twice divorced — he previously married and divorced Melissa Womer and then Lauren Holly –Carrey seemed done with the idea of getting married. In 2008, he spoke to Weekend magazine in an enlightening interview about his then-partner, Jenny McCarthy. "I'm happy with Jenny," he said (via People).
But when discussing the prospect of walking down the aisle with her, Carrey declared, "I probably won't get married again. If you've done it twice, you really should stop doing it." He stuck to his word when it came to his relationship with McCarthy, and the two stayed together, unmarried, until splitting in 2010. In 2014, Carrey said something similar about marriage when speaking with radio host Howard Stern. He told him, "I just don't see it as necessary at this point. Is it really sacred? I don't know." Considering he had the same stance over the course of at least six years, it comes as a surprise to learn that he changed his mind.
But during his interview with Stern, Carrey went on to amend his statement to say that anything could happen, noting, "I can't say that I know how I would feel if I meet somebody that knocks my head off. I can't make hard fast rules about the future, but I wouldn't voluntarily go that way." Considering how private Carrey is, we'll probably never know exactly what it was that made him want to marry Min Ah, but we wish them all the best.
