The Truth About Jessica Simpson's New TV Shows

Jessica Simpson has had a remarkable evolution. She started as a singer, made her way into acting, then became a fashion designer, as well as an author. That's an impressive list! Plus, Simpson had to overcome one specific hurdle to publish her memoir, Open Book. In fact, this memoir was a major milestone because Simpson chose to open up about her traumatizing past. Not only that, but she talked about the body-shaming she dealt with, too.

The memoir has influenced a new career path for Simpson, and on Dec. 9, 2020, via Instagram, Simpson shared exciting news about two TV projects. "I am humbled and honored to partner with @amazonstudios to bring my story and heart to life on the screen and executive produce a fictionalized coming of age series about my mid-twenties," she penned.

Simpson added that the deal also includes "a new intimate unscripted docuseries with music as a key component and 2 essays." Jessica Simpson's decision to partner with Amazon was a meaningful one, as she shared on Instagram, "I am a huge TV fan and many of my favorite shows live on Amazon, so the gift of this unprecedented collaboration is the brightest visible dream for me."

"From our first meeting I had a visceral connection to every member of this team. I know that parts of my life have been extraordinary, but I also know that many of my struggles are universal," Simpson added, speaking about how her memoir helped her see how others could benefit from her story. "I hope to continue the mission I set out to accomplish in writing Open Book — to inspire others to be entertained, moved, and empowered to walk through fear and come out on the other side even stronger."
