What Benjamin And Akinyi From 90 Day Fiance Are Doing Today

Benjamin Taylor had a rough dating history until he matched with Akinyi Obala on a dating app. They instantly connected, but there was one huge problem in their way: Anikyi lived in Kenya with her family and Benjamin resided in Arizona. Benjamin admitted he was a bit nervous the beautiful bachelorette could be a catfish, but once they met on video, he knew she was the one for him.

Fans met Benjamin and Akinyi on season three of 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days and watched them navigate not only their geological differences, but their cultural differences too. For instance, Akinyi showed her disappointment when Benjamin did not bring her a customary gift when he met her and her family for the first time. However, even after an awkward introduction to her family, Benjamin was able to marry Akinyi by paying her family (in ongoing installments) for her hand in marriage.

While the unlikely couple is married in Kenya, they did not gain a marriage license in the U.S. by the end of season three. In TLC's five-episode series in 2020 called 90 Day Fiancé: Self-Quarantined, the couple was still going strong despite not being physically together due to the coronavirus pandemic, per E! News. It's been quite some time since the show aired, which leads fans to wonder if the bicontinental couple is still committed to each other. Benjamin and Akinyi are physically separated, but...

90 Day Fiance's Benjamin Taylor and Akinyi Obala are still married in Kenya, but not in the United States. They were able to spend some time together before the pandemic hit in early 2020, but have been separated since.

The couple has been fairly quiet on social media, but photos still remain. In May 2020, shortly after their 90 Day Fiancé: Self-Quarantined episode aired, Akinyi shared a sweet tribute to Benjamin on Instagram. "It's not perfect love, because everything has flaws. But I love you you with all your flaws just as you love me with mine," she said. "I just want you to know that I miss you, that I think about you all the time, that you're amazing, that my life makes perfect sense because you're in it," she concluded.

Akinyi told News24 in June 2020 that she was waiting for her K-1 visa interview to be rescheduled and was excited to be back with her husband-to-be. "I miss how he loves me like I'm the only girl in the world," she said. She then went on to say the first thing she plans to do when her visa application goes through is travel around America with him.

In October 2020, Benjamin shared a photo on Instagram of himself holding a flower with a caption aimed at Akinyi, writing, "#missing her #everyday I can not wait till I can #welcome her #home." Even if they're physically separated, it seems these two might still be holding out hope for a reunion.
