What Mama June Is Blaming For Her Weight Gain

Reality star Mama June, born June Shannon, is debuting a new, albeit fuller-figured body these days. During a preview for the new season of Mama June: Road to Redemption, the reality star playfully teases, "I'm back — larger, sweeter than ever," per The Irish Sun.

But how much weight has Mama June gained? According to a clip from the new trailer for the reality show Mama June confessed that she has gained 60 pounds since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. "Look we have put on a little couple extra pounds. I've put on about 60. He's put on about 100. We put on a whole other person. But I'm going to blame it on healthy COVID weight," she joked, to which her boyfriend Geno Doak quickly shot back, "How much f**king COVID did we eat?"

But is COVID really to blame for Mama June's recent weight gain? Or are there other factors at play? Keep reading to find out!

Mama June is sober

As reported by The Irish Sun, Mama June's dramatic weight gain also happens to coincide with her new sober lifestyle

During a sneak peek from the new season of Mama June: Road to Redemption, Mama June references her and boyfriend Geno Doak's newfound recovery. "So much has went on with us. We are now seven months sober. Can you believe that?" she wondered out loud.

Per Daily Mail, Mama June moved to Florida with Geno in an effort to focus on her sobriety. Together the couple moved in to a condominium that overlooks a swanky golf course.

Unfortunately, the mother of four is still estranged from her daughters. It's reported that Mama June's youngest daughter, Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson, currently resides with her older sister Lauryn, also known as "Pumpkin," her husband, Josh, and their daughter, Ella, in Georgia. Alana is caught crying uncontrollably on a teaser for the upcoming season stating that she's "cried herself to sleep" over her mother's drug addiction. Here's to hoping for a mother-daughter reconciliation on the show's upcoming season!
