The series follows Villalobos Rescue Center, which works with convicted felons by partnering them with aggressive pit bulls to help dogs and the parolees overcome trauma. The theory behind the work is that the aggressive dogs have often been abused, and parolees have often suffered trauma. By putting them together and teaching them how to train the dog to make it ready for adoption, they can work through their issues. We're not crying, you're crying.
Anyway, the show also follows the personal lives of the people who work at the rescue center, including the founder Tia Maria Torres, and her two daughters, Mariah and Tania, and her two sons, Kanani and Moe. Cameras caught it all as Mariah fell in love with Marcel, a volunteer at the rescue center. The two had a whirlwind romance and got married in Vegas in 2016, per The Cinemaholic.
