This Is Who Will Be Supporting Prince William At Prince Philip's Funeral

Prince William is mourning the loss of his grandfather, Prince Philip, who died on April 9, 2021. Philip had been released from the hospital on March 16, 2021, after a one-month stay, according to BBC News. He was admitted back in February 2021 after feeling unwell, and he underwent some sort of heart surgery, which was said to be successful. Sources said that Philip was in "good spirits" as he left King Edward VII's hospital in central London, and was taken to Windsor Castle where he spent the last few weeks of his life.

A funeral service will be held for Philip, who would have celebrated his 100th birthday on June 10, 2021, though he will not lie is state, according to a 2017 report from the Independent. The funeral is expected to be a small, low-key affair, that will be attended by Philip's immediate family members. Kate Middleton's family is expected to attend Prince Philip's funeral

Prince William will reportedly have support from his wife's family at Prince Philip's funeral, according to Page Six. Kate Middleton's parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, are expected to attend the service out of respect for their son-in-law and his family. "It's particularly important for William to have their support as he is said by royal sources to be 'heartbroken' after Harry laid bare their rift during a blockbuster interview with Oprah Winfrey last month," Page Six reports.

It will also be important for William to be surrounded by loved ones as the funeral may prove to be extremely emotional in more ways than one. William's younger brother, Harry, is expected to attend. This will mark the first time the brothers have seen one another since March 2020, when Harry moved out of the UK.

According to BBC News, the funeral service will likely be held at St. George's Chapel. He is expected to be buried in the Frogmore Gardens at Windsor Castle, according to USA Today.
