The Thoughtful Way Camilla Parker Bowles Is Honoring Prince Philip
Prince Philip died on April 9, at the age of 99. The Duke of Edinburgh's health had been a concern over the past couple of months. According to BBC News, he was taken to the hospital in February after feeling unwell, and remained there for one month. He then underwent heart surgery, that went well, before being discharged. At the time, sources said that the duke was "in good spirits." A frail-looking Philip was taken back to Windsor Castle on March 16, where he lived out the remainder of his life. He died "peacefully," according to an official statement from Buckingham Palace, less than one month later.
The royal family came together for Philip's funeral service on April 17. They will continue a period of mourning for approximately one more week, according to the palace's official website. Meanwhile, as several members of the royal family were close to Philip, some have decided to do something special in his honor. One of those people is Camilla Parker Bowles. Camilla Parker Bowles dedicates a series of her book club to Prince Philip
Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, has dedicated some of the upcoming picks for her book club, The Reading Room, to Prince Philip. The Clarence House Instagram account made the announcement on April 19, sharing a photo of the four books that have been selected in honor of the Duke of Edinburgh. The post had a special message from Camilla that was pasted in its caption. "As Patron of BookTrust, which I inherited from my late father-in-law His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, I would like to dedicate the next series of my Reading Room to him, in memory of a great fellow reader," the statement read. The four books that were chosen are The Secret Commonwealth by Philip Pullman, Girl by Edna O'Brien, A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles, and The Red Notebook by Antoine Laurain.
According to People magazine, Camilla and Philip both shared a fondness for reading, so this was the perfect way for her to honor her father-in-law.
