What Sally Field Looked Like When She Was Younger

There are quite a few reasons why the ever-intriguing Sally Field is an entertainment industry icon. Along with her stellar acting ability and seemingly lovable personality, she also happens to have the kind of looks that are worthy of a career on the big screen.

As for Field's (still stunning) looks these days, she is willing to be open about both her feelings toward the aesthetics of aging as well as her thoughts on how others are facing the same situation. "I see myself on TV and I say, 'Oh, I wish that weren't happening to my neck. And your face is falling down, and your eyes are so puffy,'" she explained to Good Housekeeping (via People). "I see some of the women [who have had plastic surgery] who I thought when they were younger were so beautiful," she continued. "Now I think, 'Oh, dear, don't do that!' And it seems to be terribly disrespectful to who they are now."

Of course, plenty of people choose plastic surgery for all kinds of reasons, and that's fine. But all of this talk about from then to now might have you wondering what Fields looked like when she was younger. So without further ado, here's a glimpse of the star from back in the day.

Sally Field went from the cute girl-next-door to a stunning star

While Sally Field has taken on many incredible roles throughout her career, she first found fame in her early gigs as the lead character in "Gidget," as well as Sister Bertrille in "The Flying Nun." While her work on both shows launched her into the status of an A-list young star and established her as someone who had what it takes to enjoy a successful career in show business, she explained in her 2018 memoir, "In Pieces," that she became aware of something that changed everything. "Never again would I walk down the street or push my cart through the produce aisle without being aware of people when they recognize me," she wrote. "I was no longer a member of the club anymore. The Human Club." Instead, she "was a celebrity."

Indeed, Field explained to NPR that she "represented the 'girl next door,' the 'all-American girl'..." with perfectly curled-under bangs, adorably round cheeks, and a smile that could light up the screen. As time passed, though, she transformed from a cute kid into a lovely adolescent and then into a gorgeous adult.

Even though Field happened to be experiencing more than her fans likely could have imagined at the time, she says she was like so many others who were "going through so many things that are similar ... and yet seen as just the virginal, sunny, happy-go-lucky, uncomplicated girl next door."
