Random 'Stars' Who Always Show Up At Awards Shows

Red carpets at awards shows are the place where celebrities go to shine. For most attendees, there is a chance they might win a career-making accolade, so they don their one-of-a-kind designer ensembles and priceless borrowed jewelry, and present themselves to both their peers and the adoring media. For other attendees, whose names have no chance of being read from a sealed envelope, the red carpet is a shot at free publicity. Millions of people watch the Oscars, Emmys, and Grammys, so even the chance that viewers will Google them after thinking "Who?" is worth the effort. Here are the rando celebs who tag along to Hollywood's biggest parties.

Heidi Klum

We're starting out with probably the heaviest hitter on this list. There is rarely a major red carpet that Heidi Klum misses. In 2016, she was at the Emmys, the MTV VMAs, the Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards, and the Oscars. In 2017, she's already attended both the Golden Globes and the Grammys. And while Klum is known for many things, like being a supermodel, hosting Project Runway, America's Got Talent, and coming up with unbeatably original Halloween costumes every year, none of those things are critically acclaimed music, television, or movies. So, why is she always rubbing elbows with Hollywood's A-List?

For starters, you can circle right back to that supermodel thing. Beautiful women have been mainstays on red carpets since the first one was rolled out. Plus, Klum was married to Seal for six years, so that would explain her Grammys appearances (although not post-split). But we actually think we may be overthinking this whole thing, because to observe Klum on the red carpet for even a moment is to see that she absolutely loves every second of it. Check out the video below to see her continuously twirling at the behest of screaming paparazzi without her smile fading for a second. You think Jennifer Aniston takes that kind of direction from the press? Not a chance.

Karrueche Tran

Several rungs below Heidi Klum on the celebrity ladder is Karrueche Tran. She's mostly known for being Chris Brown's ex-girlfriend, who at the time of this writing, has obtained a restraining order against him. She's also a model and aspiring actress who does makeup tutorials on her YouTube channel, so it makes total sense that this year alone she would be invited to the iHeartRadio Music Awards, Grammys parties, Elton John's Oscars Viewing Party, and the Golden Globes, right?

To be fair, Tran was at the 2017 Golden Globes as a red carpet host for E! News, which was her second red carpet hosting gig since the last time she did it for BET in 2014, but in those three years in between she logged plenty of guest appearances at award shows. Her Hollywood resume has also ticked up a bit as of this writing, boasting roles in two upcoming films, as well as the TNT series, Claws, which has drawn comparisons to Steel Magnolias. So, her star cred is definitely on the rise, meaning it actually seems possible to go from being asked why you're at an awards show, to working at them, to then possibly having your headshot taped to a seat in one of the front rows.

Amber Rose

Amber Rose is the curvaceous and outspoken model whose rising fame coincided with her relationship with rapper Kanye West. It was on West's arm that Rose made her first red carpet appearance at the Grammys in 2008, according to Screener. Obviously, that romance fizzled, but Kanye's voluptuous ex had no intention of fading from the spotlight. She continued her modeling career and even landed a gig as the face of Smirnoff Vodka. All the while, she was knocking the red carpet dead as a beautiful, but relative unknown with her signature shaved head and risque, skin-baring looks at events like the ESPYs, the Maxim Hot 100 Party, and even the Vanity Fair Oscars Party.

In 2011, Rose found love with another rapper, Wiz Khalifa, whom she married in 2012, so she once more found herself as a red carpet plus-one. Their marriage only lasted until 2016, but it ended so amicably that they actually celebrated the split at a strip club, according to People. Classy. But Rose was far from done being the talk of the red carpet, because at a pre-party for the 2017 Grammys, she and Khalifa kissed in front of a throng of cameras, causing a frenzy of reconnection speculation. However, she quickly took to Instagram (Via US Weekly) to squash it. Regarding her relationship with Khalifa, she wrote "We've been through hell and back so a kiss on the lips for a photo and a night out of fun is not a big deal for either of us, we are in a great place but we are very much still divorced and not together." This woman knows exactly how to cause drama when she wants to, and something tells us she'll be stirring it up both on and off the red carpet for a long time.

Paris Hilton

Now that she's been around long enough, nobody is still asking "Who?" when they see Paris Hilton on a red carpet. But for years, she served as one of the originators of the "famous for being famous" movement, which led to her randomly popping up at red carpet events. She's also partially responsible for spinning off Kim Kardashian, who once worked as the hotel heiress' personal assistant. Hilton also shares with Kardashian the unfortunate experience of having a private sex tape leaked on the Internet, which while devastating, served as a catalyst for her fame.

In 2003, pre-sex tape scandal, Hilton make two red carpet appearances: a movie premiere, and the Teen Choice awards. In 2004, post-sex tape scandal, Hilton attended The Teen Choice Awards again, but added an invite to Clive Davis' exclusive Pre-Grammy Party as well as the MTV Movie Awards. By 2005, she made her way into the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. Granted, by this time socialite-turned-reality-star had also begun acting and making television appearances as herself, but we doubt a bit part on The O.C. and reporting from MTV Spring Break in Cancun would have been enough for any other D-list celebrity to suddenly gain access to the most elite parties. You have to hand it to her, though, because 13 years later as of this writing, she's become a household name and red carpet mainstay, for better or worse.

Any of Kim Kardashian's Sisters

We already mentioned Kim Kardashian's association with Paris Hilton, and how through a similar re-brand, not to mention eventually marrying one of the most famous musicians alive, Kanye West, she has also managed to turn herself into widely recognized star. But in a three times removed from legitimate fame situation, Kim's sisters have also become red carpet darlings.

Starting in 2008, the year after Keeping Up With The Kardashians debuted, Kourtney strutted her stuff at Jermaine Dupri's Pre-Grammy Party, the ESPYs, and the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. That same year, Khloe got invites to a the Maxim Super Bowl event, the MTV Australia Awards, and the GQ Men Of The Year Party. Kendall and Kylie were still pretty young at this point, but even at just 14-years-old, Kendall went to the ESPYs and the Teen Choice Awards. Fast-forward to the time of this writing, and it's nearly impossible see a movie premiere, award show, or other Hollywood event without a Kardashian or Jenner in attendance. Say what you will about the whole "famous for no reason" thing, but these ladies had a goal and they achieved it. Sure, that goal happened to be doing minimal work, yet basking in the same limelight of the acting and musical professionals who busted their butts to get there, but they did it all the same.

Frankie Grande

Ariana Grande is an award-winning pop singer and former Nickelodeon star who's been a red carpet regular since 2009 when she was only 16-years-old. Her older, lesser known brother, is Frankie Grande. Though he was tagging along to awards shows with Ariana since she got her start, his random solo appearances didn't pick up steam until around 2014 when he switched up his style and opted for the Troll doll who fell through the roof of a glitter factory look he currently rocks.

Frankie's transformation into a fashion maven also opened the door for him to the lowest circle of celebrity: reality TV. After landing a spot in the Big Brother house in 2014, Frankie went on to various other hosting or one-off appearances until snagging a permanent gig on the Amazon show, Style Code Live in 2016. But in the two years between, he hit more red carpets than an E! News correspondent. In 2015 alone, he was at the Grammys, Elton John's Oscars Viewing Party, the Nickelodeon's Kid's Choice Awards, the MTV VMAs, and the list goes on. Not too bad for a guy who showed wearing a bodypaint shirt to the 2014 American Music Awards. Usually a dude showing up to a party with paint on his nipples is a guaranteed ban from further invites, but somehow Frankie turned that into a career. Well done.

Lady Victoria Hervey

Probably more well-known to British readers, Lady Victoria Hervey (or Lady V as she is also known) is the only person on this list with an actual, bonafide title. She is a literal aristocrat, daughter to Victor Hervey, 6th Marquess of Bristol. We're not even really sure what it means to be a "Marquess" or the daughter of one, but we know it somehow gets you a ticket to the hottest parties on both sides of the Atlantic. According to The Telegraph, after Lady V become a tabloid mainstay in London thanks to her luxe lifestyle and nightly partying, she expatriated to the U.S. in 2003.

After a few years of easing herself into America's high society by sticking to Fashion Week front rows and the occasional movie premiere, Lady V advanced a level and started showing up at Cannes. Sure, that means she had to go to France to get the attention of Hollywood royalty, but before long she was spotted at the Golden Globes, Oscar parties, and elite charity events. It should also be noted that Lady V brings a uniqueness to the red carpet that may have factored in to her repeat appearances. And that uniqueness is being fully clothed, yet somehow still as naked as public decency laws will allow. This woman probably owns a set of pasties for every day of the week and in multiple colors, because could you imagine if she'd ever gotten caught wearing black ones under a nearly transparent white dress? Her high-born family would have been mortified for sure.

John Stamos

Everyone knows John Stamos from two things: Full House, and those greek yogurt commercials. Yes, we know he's done a ton of other TV and film work, and according to his IMDb page, he was even on 65 episodes of ER, but if you walk up to any random person and say, "Who's John Stamos?" do you think a single person will say, "Oh, he's the guy who played paramedic Tony Gates on ER." No way.

Which is why for years, people have been scratching their heads and wondering why Uncle Jesse has consistently shown up to red carpets for stuff like the Oscars in 2015. Because the only film work he did that year was actually a TV movie and no, he was not nominated for his portrayal of "Randy" in Members Only. Or how about going back even further, to the American Music Awards in 2005, which a little closer to his TV heyday, but still a solid decade after the Tanner family left the airwaves. Did we somehow miss it when Jesse and The Rippers won Album of the Year?

Stacy Keibler

By 2011, Stacy Keibler was attending top-tier events like the Oscars and the Cannes Film Festival with her then-boyfriend, George Clooney. But for years before that, the long-legged beauty was dominating the red carpet all on her own. According to her WWE Superstars profile, Keibler is a former Baltimore Ravens cheerleader who built a solid career as a WCW Nitro Girl before becoming a WWE Diva in 2002. When she retired from wrestling in 2006, it was clear Keibler wanted to pursue acting, which also happened to be right around the time that she kicked her red carpet game into overdrive.

That year alone, she showed up to Oscars and Grammys parties, as well as a bunch of movie premieres, and countless fashion show front rows. The acting career never really took off, but her Dancing With The Stars appearance was well received, and she continued making personal appearances and generally hanging around the Hollywood scene up to and throughout her "Clooney years." The perpetual bachelor slipped from her grasp in 2013, the same year she met her now-husband, Jared Pobre. Shortly after they married in 2014, Keibler's affinity for the bright lights of Hollywood's biggest nights seemed to fade. In 2015, she was spotted at only two charity events, and she hasn't been been on a red carpet since. She's also the mother of a two-and-a-half year old at the time of this writing, so that should be all the explanation needed for why she when from a "Who is she?" to a "Where did she go?"

Chrissy Teigen

Is she beautiful? Check. Does she have a famous significant other? Check. Has she done enough things for people to generally recognize her from a thing they saw that one time? Check. There you go, Chrissy Teigen fulfills every requirement necessary for whatever random red carpet she feels like showing up to, but she also does it with a certain flare which is why we saved her for last on this list.

Infamous for pushing the limits with her body-baring gowns, Teigen has had several "wardrobe malfunctions" that she not only DGAF about, but she hilariously owns them on social media, leaving zero room for shaming haters. She also started one of the best and longest-running memes with her cry face that she made while watching her husband, singer/songwriter John Legend, accept his Golden Globe award for Best Original Song for the movie, Selma. And in her characteristically good-natured way, she not only laughed it off, but immediately recognized it was going to happen. So, she's gorgeous and almost always reliable for creating some buzz? Yeah, she'll be invited back for a long time.
