Nicki Minaj Signs Contract With Wilhelmina Models

Move over, Kendall Jenner and Karlie Kloss. There's a new model on the scene.

According to Vogue magazine, rapper Nicki Minaj just signed a major modeling contract with top talent company Wilhelmina International, Inc.

Now signed to their celebrity division–which includes the likes of Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato–Minaj is clearly excited to be involved with the company. "I love the synergy between my music and how it inspires my fashion. My message is always celebrating your own style," the 34-year-old told Vogue. "I'm thrilled and honored to have signed with Wilhelmina–they get me."

The head honchos at Wilhelmina are also apparently looking forward to working with the star, who they realize has a hand in shaping the world of fashion. (Say what you want about her colorful costumes, but you can't deny they make an impact). "We're thrilled to work alongside Nicki Minaj and her team," Wilhelmina CEO Bill Wackermann told People, "She is a style pioneer and icon."

While this may be Minaj's first official modeling contract, the superstar has modeled before. In the past, she's been the face of Roberto Cavalli and has been shot by a number of highly respected photographers.

Roberto Cavalli himself spoke with Harper's Bazaar in Jan. 2015 about his decision to cast Minaj as the face of his spring/summer 2015 collection. "In recent years we have become accustomed to women castigated in clothes that hide their body shapes. With this campaign, I wanted to send a strong countertrend message," the designer said. "I wanted a sensual woman who is aware of her body, who is not afraid to show her curves, rather she make them as a strength."

Certainly sounds like Minaj.
