Here's What Matt Jones From NCIS Is Doing Now

The one thing that has been consistent with "NCIS" is its revolving door of characters. The hit CBS show wrapped up its 18th season in May, and when looking at the cast, it is evident how far the show has come since its premiere on September 23, 2003. Time and time again, "NCIS" had to accommodate departing characters and work their character exits smoothly into the plot.

Some of the names that left the show include Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette, Cote de Pablo, Sasha Alexander, and Emily Wickersham, among others. Most of these actors have gone on to grab exciting roles in other projects. Other exits have included characters who were not vital to the overall plot of the show, like Matt Jones' character. Between 2011 and 2015, he was in a total if six episodes. His character, a probationary agent, was killed off in the Season 12 finale, per The Hollywood Reporter.

"NCIS" had lost a special agent, but Jones had moved on to greener pastures, finding other exciting roles that'd define his career. Read on to find out more on what Jones is up to after "NCIS."

Matt Jones went on to grab some notable roles in popular shows

Matt Jones' character in "NCIS" may not have been a regular on the show, but he managed to fit right into any scene he was cast in following his stint on the hit drama series. Jones' IMDb page states that the actor, director, and producer has also played supporting roles in "The Office" (you might remember him as Dwight's cousin), CBS' "Mom," "Breaking Bad," and others. His bizarre role on "The Office" turned out to be a hit, so Jones was cast in a spinoff of the show, titled "The Farm." Unfortunately, the spinoff didn't garner the same success as its predecessor, as it was evident that the character of Dwight was most enjoyed causing antics in an office setting.

The fact that Jones appeared in the series finale of both "The Office" and "Breaking Bad" may have signaled that TV makers did see him as a promising actor. And despite being in a show that did not make it, he was able to land his own series — and as it turns out, Jones had been preparing for this role for a long time. Matt Jones displayed his comedic chops in his own show

Matt Jones was finally cast in a leading role for the first time in his own comedy show titled, "Let's Get Physical," which is based on rival gyms and aerobics. Jones was naturally excited for the show, but not just because he was the star. "My favorite thing about the show is that it's so stupid. It's funny and there's nothing political about it. We're not trying to 'say something.' It's just a break from all the garbage," he told Vulture in 2018.

Jones also opened up about his comedic training — which included studying at a comedy theater called Boom Chicago in Amsterdam and certainly helped him break into Hollywood. "The audience for the most part is there to see a good show. Nobody is rooting for you to fail — unless you're in certain places in England. The thing you learn is that people want you to do good, so do good," Jones told Vulture. "If you're not having fun then the audience isn't having fun either. You need to have fun. That's kind of what my acting career is built around — that I'm having fun doing it."

Jones' experiences and background in comedy have brought him a long way — physically and in his career. And, per his IMDb page, he's staying busy. Way to go, Matt!
