The Truth About Dina Lohan's Jail Sentence

As the old campaign slogan against drunk driving goes, "Booze it and lose it," and in this particular case, Dina Lohan is taking a big ol' L after being convicted of driving while intoxicated.

As reported by TMZ, the momager turned reality television star pled guilty to DWI charges stemming from an incident that took place in January 2020. The story goes that whilst leaving an Outback Steakhouse in New York she crashed into a Honda and instead of taking responsibility for the incident, she simply fled the scene. (We'd like to think she at least enjoyed a crispy bloomin' onion before the said incident, but that's neither here nor there.) The driver of the Honda chased Dina all the way to her Long Island residence and shortly after police officials apprehended her. But that's not all — it's reported that Dina was so inebriated she fell flat on her face when trying to exit her vehicle. YIKES.

Unfortunately, this makes the second time Dina has been convicted of drunk driving. The first occasion occurred in 2013, when, reportedly, her blood alcohol was twice the legal limit. OOF. It's safe to say that this time the justice system wasn't going to let her off with just a measly slap on the wrist. Keep reading to learn about the hefty sentence she received for her second-time offense.

Dina Lohan was sentenced to 18 days in jail and more

As reported by TMZ, Dina Lohan was sentenced to 18 days in jail and is expected to serve five months on probation. But that's not all! It's also been ruled that the famous mother must sit in on a "victim impact panel" and complete an alcohol program.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time Dina's drinking has been called into question. In September 2012 Dina raised eyebrows after appearing on an episode of "Dr. Phil." Many viewers and even host Dr. Phil suspected that Dina was intoxicated during the taping. "In the middle of that interview, I stopped that interview and took a break... and said, 'Guys, you know, come on. Let's just not do this,'" he revealed to Access Hollywood about Dina's demeanor. "I think afterward [Dina's] thinking was, 'Well, I didn't put my best foot forward.' I expect that's right," he said. "But what are you going to do at that point? The ship has sailed. And I do think that it was a pretty legitimate window into [Lohan family life]. I think that's the case," he added.

Dina, however, denied claims that she was intoxicated while on the show. "I don't care what it looks like. I'm fine and I don't care what anyone says," she declared emphatically to TMZ. "All people saw was two minutes edited of an hour long interview. Of course they cut it to make it interesting. That's their job," she added.

Maybe the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree

Unfortunately, this feels an awful lot like déjà vu as Dina Lohan's daughter, Lindsay Lohan, also experienced a few brushes with the law over drinking and driving. In 2007, Lindsay was arrested twice on DUI charges — first in May, then again in July. Per CNN, the young actor was sentenced to three years of probation, an alcohol education program, rehab, 10 days of community service, and a day in jail, though she only actually spent 84 minutes in custody due to issues of "overcrowding".

In a 2012 interview with Daily News, Dina admitted that there were some things she might have done differently while rearing her eldest daughter — especially when it came to exposing her to fame so early on. "I was born into the business," Dina shared. "My mother was an entertainer. It was natural. But yes, in the next life, I might not do it."
