Giuliana Rancic Revealed The Rudest Celebrity She's Ever Met
Giuliana Rancic has spent plenty of time with Hollywood's biggest celebs, interviewing everyone from A-list movie legends to reality stars and Tik Tok's most viral stars. The former entertainment news guru has known every inner detail of Hollywood for over two decades, so it's only natural that Giuliana developed negative feelings towards at least one celeb.
The journalist is most well-known for her time at "E! News," where she started as a correspondent before becoming a co-host of the show in 2005 (via People). Rancic then left the news program in 2015 but made a "thrilling" return in 2018 with her friend Jason Kennedy as co-host. While many recognize Giuliana as the face of E! News, the host became a celeb in her own right with her reality series with husband Bill Rancic, appropriately titled "Giuliana and Bill" from 2009 to 2014. The show chronicled the couple's bi-coastal lifestyle in Los Angeles and Chicago as they grew their family and ran joint businesses.
There is a stain on Giuliana's career, however, which came in 2015 when the E! host came under fire for comments she made on "Fashion Police" about Zendaya's Academy Awards hairstyle. The moment seemed to be the beginning of the end for the celebrity fashion show, which ended just two years later. While Giuliana's controversial and racially insensitive remark may have caused a rift between her and Zendaya, it was Giuliana's run-in with a different celeb — at the height of her career as co-host of "E! Live From The Red Carpet" — that left a mark of another kind.
Giuliana Rancic called Ariana Grande a 'diva'
Back in 2014, Giuliana Rancic revealed the one celeb she met that was "a little bit of a diva."
Giuliana recalled the day she met Ariana Grande at the American Music Awards. "[Grande] came up on the platform, and normally I stand on this side [her left side] to the camera," she recalled, via the Daily Mail. The host continued, "I had to fight 13 years to get this side to the camera, it's my good side, but I fought 13 years for this, okay? Little Ariana comes over, I feel like 'bing,' elbow in my side, I'm like, 'What's going on?' and they push me to the other side."
The E! celeb went on to claim she had to interview Grande on her — Giuliana's — "ugly side," or not do the interview. "I just felt like it's one thing if it's Mariah [Carey], you know, I'll get on any side, I'll bend down, I'll climb a ladder, whatever it takes to get Mariah to do an interview," Giuliana said. Apparently, she didn't consider Grande to be at that level quite yet. "But when you're new on the block, when you're trying to earn your stripes, you do what you gotta do."
As Giuliana's comments made their way through the tabloids, Grande responded to the rumors of her "diva" behavior, claiming to People, "All these ridiculous untrue things about me and I'm just like, you know what, that's not real, that's nonsense, my fans know who I am."
But this celeb interview might be Giuliana Rancic's most memorable of all
Despite her bad run-in with Ariana Grande, working at E! News certainly was beneficial in one way for Giuliana Rancic... and we're not talking about her salary. The journalist met her husband of over a decade, Bill Rancic, back in the early 2000s thanks to her E! News job.
"It was either 2003 or 2004 ... and she was with her boyfriend at the time," Bill told Us Weekly. Giuliana chimed in, adding, "I was like obsessed with 'The Apprentice' and Bill in particular. Because I watched every episode, so many people that first season [were] so big." The former E! star continued, revealing how her boyfriend at the time was actually the one to introduce her to Bill. "When Bill walked into this NBC party, I freaked out," said Rancic. "[My boyfriend] goes, 'I'm afraid the two of you would run off together.'" His concerns clearly weren't unfounded — years later, they did just that.
In fact, fans will remember Giuliana's first interview with Bill, in which they weren't yet dating but were very much flirting with each other, with Giuliana asking him all about his romantic life and Bill repeatedly hinting that they should get together. Their chemistry was palpable. The couple went on to wed in 2007 and welcome their son Duke in 2012 via surrogate. Suffice it to say, the host definitely holds that interview in higher regard than her one with Ari.
