Did Harry Styles Just Admit That Ex Taylor Swift Inspired His New Song 'Two Ghosts?'

Harry Styles didn't have to say a word—we could tell by his reaction that his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift had a little something to do with his song "Two Ghosts."

Fans have speculated that the song is about Styles' romance with Swift ever since Apple Music released a teaser for a behind the music feature on May 9, 2017 about the former One Direction member's first solo album.

Lyrics for the song certainly seem to hint that Styles' former relationship with Swift is the subject of the new tune. "Same lips red, same eyes blue/ Same white shirt, couple more tattoos," Styles croons, "But it's not you, and it's not me." Definitely sounds likes Styles might be referencing the music video for Swift's own song, "Style," which has long been rumored to be about her history with the 23-year-old.

But now, finally, someone's asked Styles point-blank about his inspiration for the song. In a May 12, 2017 interview with BBC 1 Radio's The Breakfast Show with host Nick "Grimmie" Grimshaw, Styles was asked if the song was indeed about Swift, and Styles clearly wasn't prepared to answer.

"I'm doing you a favor here because you're going to be asked about this. What is the song about?" Grimshaw asked.

"Weird favor," Styles responded, adding, "I think it's pretty self-explanatory."

As Grimshaw continued asking, Styles appeared nervous, squirming around in his chair and looking at his manager, Jeffrey Azamoff, off-camera. "Help me, Jeffrey!" he begged at one point.

But Azamoff didn't offer any help. Instead, Styles pulled himself together for a quick answer, saying, "I think, you know, it's about sometimes things change and you can be, you know, do all the same things, and sometimes it's just different. You know?"

"2017 philosopher, London, England," he joked.

As to be expected, Grimshaw soon introduced the song on his show, referring to it as "the one about Taylor Swift," prompting Styles to exclaim, "Ahh, no!"

In early May 2017, Styles opened up to Rolling Stone about his romance with Swift and how its influenced both of their songwriting. "Certain things don't work out. There's a lot of things that can be right, and it's still wrong. In writing songs about stuff like that, I like tipping a hat to the time together," Styles told the magazine. "You're celebrating the fact it was powerful and made you feel something, rather than 'this didn't work out, and that's bad.' And if you run into that person, maybe it's awkward, maybe you have to get drunk ... but you shared something. Meeting someone new, sharing those experiences, it's the best s*** ever. So thank you."

Sounds like there's no bad blood between Styles and Swift. But just to be sure, we'd love to hear from the 27-year-old. Hopefully, she'll share some inside info about their past relationship in her upcoming album.
