Celebrity Yearbook Superlatives Revealed
High school—for some of us, it was the best of times, while for others, undoubtedly the worst. Taking a variety of celebrity year book superlatives into consideration, things weren't so different for the rich and famous.
Read on to see who was owning it in high school, and who hadn't arrived just yet.
Rosie O'Donnell
It sounds like The View co-host and actress Rosie O'Donnell had a pretty good time all in all at Commack High School in Commack, New York.
O'Donnell was voted "homecoming queen," "most popular," and "class clown" by her peers before she graduated in 1980. Safe to say they had a more generous view of Rosie than our current president.
Eddie Murphy
Comedian and actor Eddie Murphy has had a decades-long streak as a fan favorite, whether performing standup or lending his acting talents to movies like Shrek, The Nutty Professor and Doctor Doolittle.
It turns out his reputation as a crowd-pleaser started early in high school, where, despite having to repeat the 10th grade, his classmates voted him "most popular."
Sandra Bullock
Actress Sandra Bullock, who's been famously dubbed "America's Sweetheart" and also literally starred as Miss Congeniality, has been spreading joy everywhere she goes since back in the day, when her classmates honored her with the title of "Most Likely to Brighten Your Day."
She told Good Morning America, "I worked for that one...I worked every morning...I came in and I was like, 'Hey, how's it going?'"
Well, if that's all it takes... where's our award?
Tom Cruise
This one admittedly caught us by surprise. Actor Tom Cruise, one of Hollywood's top-earners, was actually voted "Least Likely to Succeed" in high school.
His fellow students really couldn't have been further off, unless they meant "Least Likely To Succeed... at Not Being a Scientologist." We'll be here all night.
Bruce Willis
It's hard for us to envision notably gruff actor Bruce Willis jumping around waving the team flag, but apparently he was honored with the title of "Most School Spirit" at Penns Grove Regional High School in Penns Grove, New Jersey when he graduated in 1973.
Willis was also student government president. Who knew?
Amy Schumer
Unlike Willis' spirited triumph, this one's not much of a shocker.
Trainwreck actress and all-around funny lady Amy Schumer was voted "Class Comedian" at South Side HS in Rockville Centre, Long Island. Fellow winner Stephen Cannone told the New York Post in 2016, "She's really smart so she would kind of play with the teachers without them even realizing it and then we would work off each other making jokes."
Sounds pretty fun.
Jennifer Lawrence
Anyone who's seen actress and Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence on a late night show probably won't be surprised to hear that she earned the title of "Most Talkative" in middle school... two years in a row.
Lawrence told Graham Norton in 2016 that she won "two consecutive years! It was hard to get." Somehow we doubt that, Jen.
Chris Pratt
Here's another fairly predictable win. This time it was Chris Pratt, naturally honored as recipient of the "Class Clown" title.
A Redditor shared some snaps of Pratt from high school, and said, "[I] had more than a few classes with him, absolute class clown, the kind of guy who could crack a joke in class and never get in trouble for it, and one of those students who was popular with everyone."
No word on his Raptor-training skills though.
Missy Elliott
Another big star, another big joker. Rapper Missy Elliot's songs and videos have tended to include a sly, quirky touch of humor, so her victory as "Class Clown" in high school doesn't seem too far afield.
Her friend Timbaland told the New York Daily News, "She likes to laugh and play around a lot," and Elliot herself admitted, "I was always cutting up in the hallways..."
Sounds like you've been workin' it since back in the day, Missy.
Brad Pitt
Whether on the red carpet or in the pages of fashion magazines, actor Brad Pitt has always made a sartorial impression.
In fact, as a senior at Springfield, Missouri's Kickapoo High School, Pitt earned "Best Dressed." Is there anything he can't do?
Gillian Anderson
She may have played a member of law enforcement on both The X-Files and The Fall, but ironically actress Gillian Anderson was dubbed "Most Likely to be Arrested" in high school.
Anderson told NPR's Weekend Edition Saturday that the title actually wasn't too far off base, explaining, "in fact, on graduation night, I was arrested... I had a boyfriend at the time who was a couple centuries older than I was and I'd convinced him that we should go and glue the locks of the school so that people couldn't get in in the morning. And lo and behold, they had a security guard because it was graduation night and they were concerned that idiots like me might try and do something like that."
Luckily for all of us, Anderson got her act together in time to become an actress instead of a felon.
Oprah Winfrey
Again, no real surprise here.
Billionaire and talk show host extraordinaire Oprah Winfrey nabbed the crown as "Most Popular" when she graduated in 1971 from East High School in Nashville, Tennessee. Multiple TV shows, movies, and networks later, we'd say the title still applies.
Diana Ross
Megastar singer Diana Ross has always incorporated some pretty epic costumes into her stage shows, a tendency that sounds like it started as a teen.
Ross told The Christian Science Monitor in 1989, "I've always had this thing for clothes...even when I didn't have any money. I could mix and match until I looked fashionable. I think being named `Best Dressed' in my '62 high school yearbook was a highlight." Coming from a Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, that's pretty cool.
Kevin Spacey
Kevin Spacey has taken home acting trophies twice already at the Academy Awards; first for Best Supporting Actor in 1996, and again for Best Actor in 2000.
But Spacey had already earned that all important honor, albeit on a less glamorous scale. Yep, that's right, back in high school his peers had already taken note of his prodigious dramatic talents, voting him "Best Actor" when he graduated with the class of 1977 from Chatsworth High School in Chatsworth, California. They knew talent when they saw it.
Michael Jackson
He may have been one of, if not the biggest pop star of all time, but back in high school Michael Jackson wasn't exactly flaunting his talents. In fact, his classmates at Cal Prep in Encino, CA deemed him the "Shyest" member of their class.
But, he also took home "Most Creative" and "Best Dressed," so they weren't totally off base.
Kim Kardashian
We don't know what's weirder; the fact that reality TV tycoon Kim Kardashian won "Most Likely To Lie About Their Ethnicity" in high school, or the fact that this was a category at all at Marymount High School, the all-girls Catholic school in Los Angeles she attended.
In either case, congrats, we guess?
