Ashley Tisdale And Lucas Grabeel Reunite To Perform High School Musical Duet
Calling all High School Musical fans—this is exactly what you've been looking for!
Ashley Tisdale and Lucas Grabeel have reunited more than a decade after the film's release on May 23, 2017 to sing a stripped down version of their iconic duet, "What I've Been Looking For," in Tisdale's Music Sessions series.
But before beautifully harmonizing on the catchy tune, the former Disney stars, who played twins Sharpay and Ryan in the movie, took a stroll down memory lane.
"It's been 10 years since we sang this song so it was really crazy just thinking what would be the best song to sing with you and this instantly came to mind," Grabeel began. "I started learning it on the piano, and I was instantly taken back."
However, it wasn't all fond memories. "All I remember is, we were not close," Tisdale admitted. "We were not good friends, let's be honest...we hated each other." Grabeel agreed, "Yeah, we didn't get off on the best foot."
But now the two are total BFFs! "After we wrapped, I always had a love for you," Tisdale gushed, before complimenting Grabeel's vocal chops. "His voice, he can hit any note. He's just the best singer out of all of us."
After reminiscing with his former co-star during the fun-filled video shoot, Grabeel shared a cute behind-the-scenes snapshot of the two on Instagram.
The reworked version of the song was soon met with an outpouring of love and excitement. Tisdale took to Twitter to thank their fans with a sweet text photo.
"Life can be tough. The news can be hard to digest. My love for being a performer/actor is to take you out of anything you are going through and put a smile on your face," she wrote.
"Spreading light and love, I can't tell you how many comments I've gotten today on the new Music Session with Lucas saying 'they needed this,'" she continued. "That means so much to me. I do this for you guys and the fact I can bring you joy in a world that can be harsh is my greatest accomplishment."
