Aisha Tyler Is Leaving The Talk After Season 7

Say goodbye to Aisha Tyler! The Talk co-host has revealed she's leaving the daytime show.

On June 15, 2017, Tyler announced to the talk show's audience—and viewers at home—that she'll be making her exit at the end of the season.

Tyler admitted that she's been busy over the years, taking on a number of gigs that, certainly, must occupy her time from morning to night. In addition to her hosting position on The Talk, Tyler also hosts Whose Line Is It Anyway? and voices a character on the animated FX series Archer. And she acts too! She's recently been promoted from recurring character to series regular on the CBS drama Criminal Minds.

"People always go 'How do you do all that?'  And I don't always have an answer," she stated. "I think the passion and the love for what I do kind of pushes me forward."

"Coming here is such a joy that it doesn't feel like work to me," she added, regarding her spot at the Talk table.

"But recently I got the opportunity to do something I always dreamed of doing," she revealed, "which is to direct my first feature film."

And while the experience with her first big movie was positive—she took the film, entitled Axis, to four major festivals and even snagged an award—it helped her realize it was time to move on with her career. "I knew that was what I wanted to do the rest of my life, what I wanted to put my energy into. And I started to think about it and could not see how that would work."

So, she said through tears, she had to let something go—and The Talk, which shoots 11 months out of the year, had to be that thing.

Luckily, there will be plenty of opportunities to see Tyler back on the show. She promised the audience that she'll be back—whether as a guest host or as a guest.

Go follow your dreams, Aisha! We're rooting for you!
