Dating Around Season 3 Release Date, Cast, And More Information

From "Sexy Beasts" to "Too Hot to Handle," Netflix is quickly becoming our go-to destination for unique reality TV dating shows. There's no shortage of drama or sexy bachelors or bachelorettes. A show that's stayed in viewers' minds is "Dating Around," which debuted on the streaming platform in February 2019, per The Cinemaholic. As the title suggests, the show follows participants as they go on multiple blind dates in an attempt to find the one they are most connected to romantically.

Fans were hooked immediately, praising the show for its authenticity and relatability. In fact, "Dating Around," was so popular that it was ordered for a second season, which premiered in June 2020, per Vulture. However, there's been a long hiatus between Season 2 and a potential Season 3, likely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, causing viewers to wonder if the show has been canceled or awaiting renewal.

Here's everything we know about "Dating Around" Season 3 so far.

When will Dating Around Season 3 be released?

As of this writing, a release date for "Dating Around" Season 3 has not yet been released yet. Bustle notes that the streaming platform has not yet renewed the show, but fans shouldn't worry too much about the lack of urgency, given that Netflix has renewed several dating shows in the past with short notice. "Dating Around" also has an advantage in that showrunners and producers were able to successfully captivate audiences with a simple, but relatable concept in casual dating. The strategy has increased viewership, which was one of the main goals for Netflix when it decided to focus on unscripted programming.

Vulture spoke to Brandon Riegg, Netflix's chief of unscripted programming, in 2020, and he confirmed that the streaming giant was making a real effort to cater to audiences with its unscripted programs. "Part of the goal is, we're trying to provide something for everyone," he explained. "And unscripted is probably the broadest content genre that's out there, right? It's everything from game shows to docuseries to these big competition formats. We're working hard to get all of that covered and do the best shows in those various categories."

Considering there was an eight-month gap between Season 1 and 2 of "Dating Around," per Bustle, it's plausible that Netflix has already begun production on Season 3 and is waiting until a few months before the premiere to announce the release date.

Who is cast in Dating Around Season 3?

Unlike other reality dating shows, "Dating Around" sets itself apart by featuring participants of different ages, races, genders, and sexual orientations. Next Season TV notes that the show's inclusivity and diversity are what has drawn viewers in because they could relate to the participants' dating woes.

Since little has been announced about Season 3, there is no information about who has been cast on the show, but the format will likely stay the same. Each episode features a singleton who goes out on five dates to see which partner suits them the best. The whole premise of dating is based on quantity over quality, meaning the more dates the participant goes on, the more likely they'll find love.

To make things even more romantic, each season has been filmed in a different city. Netflix Life reports that Season 1 of "Dating Around" was filmed in New York City, whereas Season 2 was filmed in New Orleans. Whichever city is selected next will surely add to the romantic vibe of the show.

How many couples have lasted on Dating Around?

While "Dating Around" has differentiated itself from other dating shows on television, it hasn't broken the breakup curse that so many participants have experienced after the show ends. Men's Health reports that a majority of the couples from Season 1 — including Luke and Victoria — have broken up, but remain friends with each other. Gurki, in a surprising revelation, fell for one of the show's directors, whereas Sarah, Charlotte, and Mila have split up with their chosen partners on the show.

As for Season 2, Refinery29 confirms that the only couple who is still together after the show ended is Heather and Ernesto. They frequently post about each other on social media. Others including Deva and Maria, Brandon and Justin, and Demi and Zach have split up, but remain on friendly terms.

Perhaps participants on Season 3 will have better luck with their partners, but for now, viewers can revisit the show on Netflix.
