The Real Reason Kim Zolciak Doesn't Speak To Either Of Her Parents

Kim Zolciak-Biermann is someone who takes pride in her family life. She's been married to her husband, former NFL star Kroy Biermann, since 2011 — and together they share six children: daughters Brielle, Arian,a and Kaia, and sons Kash, Kroy, Jr. and Kane. In an interview with In The Know, Kim's eldest daughter Brielle said that her relationship with her mother is just as strong off screen as it is on screen. When asked how she feels about working so closely with her mother, Brielle put it this way: "It's really fun. It's super funny, because we'll leave an event and we'll be s*** talking a little bit about certain things that happened or people," Brielle dished. "I tell [her] everything, down to the last weird thing you probably wouldn't want to share with your mom."

Seeing how close Kim is with her husband Kroy and her children, a lot of people are surprised that the former "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star has cut out two prominent relatives. In fact, it looks like she wants nothing to do with them and their embarrassing headlines. Here's why.

Kim Zolciak doesn't want anything to do with her mom and dad

While there's no doubt that Kim Zolciak has certainly made her fair share of headlines throughout the years, it's her parents' drama that is most likely wanting her to hide her head in shame. Kim's estranged father, Joseph Zolciak, was arrested for battery in November 2021 after allegedly getting physical with his wife, Karen Zolciak, according to Page Six. The fight apparently began when Karen saw Joe speaking to a female neighbor, and things escalated from there. A police report said Joseph allegedly "pushed her, causing her to fall and hit the right side of her head on an antique table." However, Joseph claimed that his wife fell because she was intoxicated.

If that weren't enough, Joseph criticized Kim's parenting in an interview with InTouch Weekly after her son Kash was bitten in the face by their family dog in 2017. He told the mag, "If I had a dog that attacked one of my children, it would be gone." And it didn't take long for Kim to respond on Twitter. "It's disgusting and sad. My parents haven't been a part of my life or my kids' for 6 yrs," she wrote. "They have never met Kash or our dog. I do know they will do anything for a dollar."

With that said, a lot of people can't help but wonder what Kim thinks about her parents today.

Kim Zolciak still has her parents blocked

During the summer of 2020, Kim answered fan questions on her Instagram account. When one fan asked her how her relationship looked like with her estranged parents, the reality star certainly didn't mince her words. When asked if she has any communication with her parents, Kim was blunt. "No!!! It's ok I've accepted it! It's one thing to mess with me but when you hurt my kids ... bye!!!!!" she wrote on Instagram (via Reality Blurb). Kim also added that while she doesn't have any anger towards her parents Karen and Joe, she's done everything she could not to repeat their history. "I'm such a great mom because of my childhood and how they treated me ... I corrected their mistakes," she explained. "I never wanted my kids to feel how I felt!!!"

In addition to setting a good example for her children, Kim also holds her marriage in high regard. "We believe if our marriage is strong our children will be even stronger," she captioned an Instagram post with husband Kroy Biermann. "We also put our marriage first above all else. I love loving you @kroybiermann and I'm incredibly thankful for you."

In other words, it sounds like Kim is focusing on the family that she has living under her roof while kicking the rest of the drama out the door. That, and she's putting her needs first.
