What 90 Day Fiance Star Jorge Nava's Life Was Like In Prison

Ask most people who've been to prison and the stories are likely to be eerily similar — unless you happen to be Jorge Nava. Jorge first made headlines because he was part of TLC's smash-hit reality series "90 Day Fiance" Season 4. During his season on the show, Jorge was dating a Russian woman he met on Facebook named, Anfisa Arkhipchenko. They got married and tried to make things work, but when Jorge faced drug charges, their marriage wouldn't last.

ET reported that Jorge was arrested in 2018 and sentenced to 2.5 years in prison on marijuana possession charges. Understandably, that can seem like an exceedingly long time when the sentence is handed down, and for Jorge, it was no different. He said, "It's like one of those jaw-dropping moments. What am I gonna do in here for two years?"

Thankfully for Jorge, his fame paid him a service while in prison, as he was readily recognized and eventually his status spread through his unit. "Prison's kind of like high school ... So, like, say if one prison guard recognized me, they'll go tell another one and it spreads like wildfire and then everybody knows," he told ET.

Jorge Nava's mindset changed while in prison

If popcorn is the first thing you think of when you hear the word "prison," you might be Jorge Nava. The reality star was found with 293 pounds of marijuana that he intended to sell, per Screen Rant. The prison term cost him his freedom and his marriage, but from what the reality TV star detailed to ET, it doesn't sound like he had a terrible time. "I was at a special unit where all the people that were there were working. It was a working part of the prison, and we had a little more than the average ... like, we had a big screen TV, a couch, we could roam around, we weren't locked up," he recalled.

While Jorge was spending his days and nights locked up, he recognized trying to control everything was useless. "I felt, honestly, at the very beginning when I was going through it, I felt hopeless, I felt powerless. And I felt like I couldn't do anything to reflect my outside environment," he said. "It wasn't until going through all of this that I was able to see that I shouldn't try to control what's going on out in the outside, but try to change what was within, and that little change sparked everything that has happened now."

On Instagram, Jorge shared he lost 128 pounds while in prison. After finding himself "depressed and unmotivated," he explained that he "started reading motivational books by @tonyrobbins and it changed [his] perspective on life forever."

Jorge Nava is a new dad with another kid on the way

Jorge Nava, famous for his Season 4 appearance on "90 Day Fiance," spent 2.5 years in prison on drug possession charges. During his time served, he lost a massive amount of weight and went through a divorce. He also gained a girlfriend, and in April, People reported, he welcomed his first child. Jorge posted a picture of the new mom and sweet baby to his Instagram account, quoting a series of Bible verses to compliment the new woman in his life and the blessings she has brought him.

In October, People also reported that Jorge's new lady Rhoda and sweet baby girl, Zara, will be adding a little one to their family. The announcement was made just six months after little Zara's arrival and the reality star seems like he couldn't be happier. He posted a picture of him and Rhoda to his Instagram account, clearly astonished at how his "dreams have become reality so fast."

Despite having a criminal record, it seems that Jorge Nava has turned over a new leaf, and he's taking the changes he made to heart.
