Relationships can be difficult, even under the best of circumstances. Add in things like paparazzi and constantly having tabloid papers print details about your life that may or may not be true, and difficult takes on a whole new meaning. For "NCIS" actor Cote de Pablo, relationships on-screen are often less complicated and easier to deal with than their real-life counterparts.
She isn't against dating, in fact she told Prevention magazine in a 2012 interview about her relationship with then-boyfriend, Diego Serrano, that, "I'm in a long-term relationship with [actor] Diego Serrano, and I'm very happy. He's the worst influence that I have ever had in my life, and I love him for it." Their relationship ended in 2015, but that hasn't stopped de Pablo from hoping life will bring her a husband and children.
In an interview with Rachael Ray posted to YouTube, de Pablo opened up about her hopes to get married and have children one day. "Eventually, I think it will happen ... Things have been slow to come. I think happily they will come when the time is right," she said. But when it comes to finding the perfect partner, de Pablo definitely has some highlights she looks for in a potential match.
Cote de Pablo wants a partner she can laugh with
Sometimes real-life relationships can be hard, but Cote de Pablo has a theory when it comes to dealing with them. According to Watch! Magazine (via Express), the actor definitely wants a partner she can laugh with and be vulnerable around. "One of the things I love is just being able to have a conversation with somebody, being able to be vulnerable," de Pablo said. She also wants someone who can open up and be vulnerable with her, adding that she'd like "to feel somebody else's vulnerability."
Per Showbiz Cheat Sheet, the "NCIS" actor also told Watch! that she preferred a partner who can "balance [her] out." She described this type of person as "somebody who, when I'm out of control, can just kind of turn off the engine. An equalizing force. Somebody who can balance and counterbalance. That, actually, would be the ideal thing." But while that's what she wants, she knows it's not always easy to find.
Cote de Pablo considers herself 'incredibly private'
Cote de Pablo of "NCIS" fame keeps a relatively low profile for an actor that is so well-known for being part of such a famous show. It might seem like a miracle in today's super-connected world, but one way de Pablo keeps her private life under wraps is by staying off social media. She told the BUILD series on a YouTube interview that, "I guess I'm negotiating within myself, because I'm an incredibly private person." So even if she was dating someone, there's a chance fans might not know right away.
De Pablo went on to give accolades to the BUILD host for making her feel so comfortable and at ease saying, "Can I give you props on something? Okay, so I've done like a lot of TV shows and I have to say that a lot of them are very kind of like, formal and all of that. There's a quality about the informality and the casual aspect of this that makes it seem like you and I have had this conversation forever and that I'm like, just chilling with you in your living room or we're meeting for coffee ... it's really fun." She may be quite famous, but clearly she still seems very humble and modest.
Cote de Pablo might not have any romantic aspirations on the horizon at the moment, but it's easy to see why she's so likable both on and off screen.
