The Former Real Housewife That Dated Meghan Markle's Ex-Husband

Before she was a royal family member, Meghan Markle was married to someone else. That's right: seven years before she tied the knot with Prince Harry, the future Duchess of Sussex married her first husband, American film producer Trevor Engelson, in a wild, four-day celebration in Ochos Rios, Jamaica, according to the Mirror.
The marriage would last only two years, with Meghan filing for divorce in 2013 at the height of her fame on the TV series "Suits." Engelson was crushed. In the book "Meghan: A Hollywood Princess," royal family biographer Andrew Morton revealed that Engelson told a friend that near the end of the marriage that he felt like "a piece of something stuck to the bottom of Meghan's shoe" (via The Sun). Meghan's maid of honor, Nina Priddy, apparently also criticized the "Suits" star, noting, "The way she handled it, Trevor definitely had the rug pulled out from under him. He was hurt."
Of course, Meghan went on to date — and ultimately marry — Prince Harry, but her ex also had a romantic outing with another celeb, too.
Meghan Markle's ex-husband went on a date with Bethenny Frankel
In 2018, just one month before Meghan Markle married Prince Harry at Windsor Castle, reality star and Skinny Girl entrepreneur Bethenny Frankel revealed she had been on a date with the royal bride's ex-husband. During an guest spot on the "Kyle and Jackie O Show," the "Real Housewives of New York City" alum dished about her "romantic interest." "His name is Trevor," Bethenny said at the time (via E! News). "I met him in Chicago and we were supposed to go out, and I ended up seeing him one time and he'd been texting me. He's a producer in L.A. He told me that he was married before. He's divorced. He was married to this girl named Meghan Markle from the TV show 'Suits.'"
Bethenny added that when she realized who her suitor had been married to — it took a minute — she told him, "Holy s***! Your ex is going to be a princess. Is that crazy?"
Bethenny also noted that romance didn't blossom for her and Engelson, partly because she was on the East Coast while he was on the West Coast — and because he reminded her too much of her ex-husband, Jason Hoppy. "He looks a little bit like my ex which scares me," she admitted. (As "RHONY" fans know, Bethenny and her ex have had a contentious relationship for years.) But she added, "There's a little sizzle there... I could make chicken salad out of that chicken s*** for sure."
Trevor Engelson found love and marriage once again
While Trevor Engelson was not meant to be a "Real Housewives" husband, he did find love again. In May 2019, days after Meghan Markle gave birth to son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, her ex-husband wed his second wife, Tracey Kurland. The couple exchanged vows at Rosewood Miramar Beach in Montecito, California, according to Entertainment Tonight.
In August 2020, Engelson and his wife welcomed daughter Ford Grace Engelson, and in November 2021, second daughter Sienna Lee was born, according to the Daily Mail. (Fun fact: Meghan also gave birth to daughter Lilibet "Lili" Diana, in June 2021.)
As for Engelson's onetime date, Bethenny Frankel, she is also headed down the aisle once again. The Bravolebrity is engaged to Paul Bernon after meeting him on a dating app in 2018, according to Us Weekly. Bethenny told Extra she's not sure if she'll have her wedding in New York, but there is one thing she is sure of. "I don't want to go back on 'Housewives,'" she said. "It's not where I am right now. I respect that I came from there... I'm moving forward."
