The Real Reason Jorge And Anfisa From 90 Day Fiance Got Divorced
All's fair in love and war — especially for "90 Day Fiance" stars Jorge Nava and Anfisa Arkhipchenko. Fans were first introduced to Jorge and Anfisa in Season 4 of the franchise after the two met and started chatting on Facebook. Knowing it was love at first sight, Anfisa moved from Russia to the United States on the K-1 visa to be with Jorge in California, per Entertainment Tonight. However, from the second Anfisa arrived, the two had an explosive love affair — and let's just say, not in the best way possible.
During their time on the show, the two were constantly seen bickering. Fans even caught uncomfortable glimpses of Anfisa and Jorge being verbally and emotionally abusive toward one over mundane tasks — which exploded into worse situations like Anfisa hitting Jorge in public.
Yet, despite their issues, the pair truly believed love conquered all and headed down the aisle and to the franchise's spin-off "90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After," to prove their relationship. Though, as fans would quickly see, in an ironic turn of events, these two were the complete opposite of what the spin-off show was intended for.
Anfisa and Jorge never saw eye to eye
During "90 Day Fiancé" and "90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After," the obstacles Jorge Nava and Anfisa Arkhipchenko went through stemmed from a lack of communication. However, the couple's relationship was put more to the test off-screen rather than in front of cameras.
In 2018, Jorge was arrested. At the time of his arrest, he was found with 293 pounds of "high-grade marijuana" in his truck, per People. But that wasn't the first time Jorge's run-in with the law put his relationship on the line. During Season 4 of "90 Day Fiancé," he and Anfisa struggled to rent an apartment due to Jorge's previous arrest where he pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges.
Following his second arrest, Jorge was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison, per Entertainment Tonight. Despite the sentence, Jorge believed this wouldn't break him and Anfisa's bond. "She's been here supporting me through this whole journey and she's gonna be with me throughout this whole process, and after that too. I really don't see us splitting up," he revealed to People. Yet, while Jorge felt their relationship was as unbreakable as prison bars, Anfisa didn't seem to feel the same. Instead, Jorge's second arrest seemed to be the last straw for Anfisa. In an Instagram Q&A, when asked about her and Jorge's relationship, Anfisa kept her lips shut on whether she and Jorge were together or not. She also added that she wanted to keep her relationship private.
Anfisa and Jorge divorced while he served his prison sentence
While serving his prison sentence, Jorge Nava certainly went through some life changes. The "90 Day Fiancé" star eventually lost his relationship with Anfisa Arkhipchenko. But despite many thinking the prison sentence lead to their demise, Anfisa said that is simply untrue.
Speaking with In Touch Weekly, Anfisa said that when Jorge was sentenced to prison, she wanted to put their issues aside and support Jorge through a difficult time. "I felt like I had a weight on my shoulders that wouldn't let me be happy," she said. "I knew I had to end it and it would be better for the both of us, so Jorge and I talked about it and mutually decided to part ways a few months ago and agreed to divorce once he's released."
It's obvious the two didn't see eye to eye on how their relationship ended either. While Anfisa saw a mutual decision, Jorge said Anfisa called their relationship off while he was trying to work on it. "Probably about two months after I was in prison, she basically told me she couldn't be with me anymore. I tried to work on the relationship no matter what," he told US Weekly. But while these two saw their separation differently, they are both now thriving in their new chapters. Jorge lost over 130 pounds and has a new girlfriend whom he shares two kids with, while Anfisa is a fitness guru.
