Lea Michele, Paris Hilton Among Celebrities Evacuating California Homes Due To Wildfires

A number of stars have fled from their homes in southern California.

E! News reports that celebrities like Lea Michele, Paris Hilton, and Chrissy Teigen, as well as thousands of residents, have left their homes in order to seek safe shelter. At the time of writing, multiple wildfires are ravaging the area.

CNN notes that the fires could spread in the evening of Dec. 7, 2017, following increased winds.

"Praying for everyone in LA," Michele tweeted in the evening of Dec. 6. "Grabbed what I loved most this morning and so grateful to my friends for taking us in."

Hilton also packed up her belongings and left her home. "This wild fire in LA is terrifying! My house is now being evacuated to get all of my pets out of there safely," the socialite wrote on social media, along with a viral video of the California flames. "Thank you to all the firefighters who are risking their lives to save ours. You are true heroes!"

Teigen, on the other hand, tried to keep things light in the wake of the emergency. "Never thought I'd get to actually play what I thought was a hypothetical game of what would you grab if there were a fire," she told her followers. "So far all I have is [daughter] Luna, some limited edition Oreos and my spike tv award."

Responding to criticism for her joke, she commented, "Did I say it was funny? There is a fire raging a few miles from my house, I think I get to decide what I can say about it."

Chelsea Handler also tried to find the humorous side of things, tweeting, "Just evacuated my house. It's like Donald Trump is setting the world on fire. Literally and figuratively."

But, of course, she also understood the weight of the forced evacuations. In her tweet, she added, "Stay safe everyone. Dark times."

Our thoughts are with everyone in the southern California area. Take precautions.
