Inside The Love Lives Of The Judges Of The Voice

There is almost as much drama in The Voice coaches' private lives as there is during the show's battle rounds. From divorces to supermodels to alleged homewreckers to on-set relationships, the musical competition series is a hotbed for heartbreak and romance. Get to know the love lives of all the judges who've ever slapped a big red button.

Adam Levine was a player ...

From 1997 to 2001, Adam Levine dated former Vogue editor Jane Herman, who inspired Maroon 5's debut album, Songs About Jane. Once he hit it big, Levine reportedly hooked up with Jessica Simpson in 2006, then dumped her via text. He reportedly moved on with waitress Rebecca Ginos in 2007, then was spotted on a date with Cameron Diaz in 2009. He also allegedly hooked up with Lindsay Lohan at some point, but denied it years later.

Then came the modelizing: In 2009, Levine reportedly took up with brunette stunner Angela Bellotte, but broke up less than a year later. In 2010, Levine allegedly began dating supermodel Anne Vyalitsyna, who starred in his band's video for "Never Gonna Leave This Bed," but she broke his heart: A source told Us Weekly that Levine was "blindsided" when she dumped him in 2012.

Levine quickly moved on with Victoria's Secret stunner Behati Prinsloo in June 2012. They briefly split in spring 2013, when he rebounded with model, Nina Agdal — but he reportedly dumped Agdal over text a month later when he and Prinsloo reunited.

He would later tell Details (via E! News), "There are men who are f**king misogynist pigs, and then there are men who just really love women, who think they're the most amazing people in the world. And that's me. Maybe the reason I was promiscuous, and wanted to sleep with a lot of them, is that I love them so much."

... but he's cleaned up his act

In July 2013, just a month after breaking Agdal's heart, Levine and Prinsloo reconciled and got engaged. A year later, they married in Mexico, with Jonah Hill officiating. The couple welcomed daughter Dusty Rose in September 2016 and are expecting another baby girl in February 2018.

Of his newly domesticated life, Levine told On Air With Ryan Seacrest (via People), "The relationship doesn't change [with marriage] — in a great way ... [Marriage made me feel] slightly more masculine. If it's the right marriage, if it's the right person, the guy feels a little bit more like a man." He added, "I want to have 100 kids. I want to have more kids than is socially responsible. We can't do it right now, but it's in the works."

Christina Aguilera takes it slow

In 1998, Christina Aguilera reportedly got hot and heavy with Enrique Iglesias more than once. In 1999, she and Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst had a mutual crush, but she told Rolling Stone, "We never really had our moment."

In 2000, Aguilera reportedly hooked up with the frontman of one-hit wonder band Lit, A.Jay Popoff. "After the ASCAP 2000 Awards we all went out and got hammered at this club in Beverly Hills," A.Jay's brother and bandmate Jeremy Popoff told Metal Sludge (via Popdirt). "A.Jay left with Christina and they went to an undisclosed location. You'll have to get the details from him or her."

From 2000 to 2002, Aguilera dated backup dancer Jorge Santos, who inspired her song "Infatuation." She would later describe him as her first love.

Aguilera began dating Jordan Bratman in 2002 and they married in 2005, welcoming son Max in January 2008. By 2010, they divorced, which Aguilera explained to People, "I've grown as a woman and he's grown as a person. We were both looking for different things. We just weren't right for each other."

After divorcing Bratman, Aguilera began dating Matthew Rutler, a production assistant she met on the set of Burlesque (2010). The couple got engaged on Valentine's Day in 2014 and welcomed daughter Summer Rain that August. Aguilera told Women's Health (via Us Weekly) of her and Rutler's plans to eventually wed, "We discuss it when we're snuggling in bed, but it's a casual conversation."

CeeLo Green keeps it on the DL

CeeLo Green generally keeps his private life private, but rest assured it's as colorful as his stage getups.

He was previously married to Atlanta Exes star Christina Johnson from 2000 to 2005, and it was a volatile relationship: Radar Online reported that in 2001, Green was arrested for allegedly threatening Johnson after an argument and smashing the windows on their Jaguar. Green was put on probation and underwent counseling; the couple divorced in 2005 and shared custody of son Kingston. The pair get along well now, however, and Green was even on hand to meet Johnson's then-beau Willie Wallace to wish them well in 2014.

In October 2015, Green revealed that he was engaged to longtime girlfriend Shani James — and that they'd been engaged for more than a year at that point. He told People, "Truth be told, it's not something we wanted to promote. We're a collective power together because our private life is sacred ... I appreciate her openness and willingness to love unconditionally. She's been so sweet to me through a number of different trials that come to test the resilience of a union to deem whether it's worthy or not, whether it's durable or strong enough."

Blake Shelton is a serial monogamist

Blake Shelton was married to high school sweetheart Kaynette Williams from 1996 to 2005, when he met and performed with Miranda Lambert at CMT's 100 Greatest Duets show.

In 2012, Shelton said on Behind The Music, "I've never had that kind of experience with anybody. I was a married guy ... Standing up there and singing with somebody and going, 'Man, this shouldn't be happening.' I was falling in love with her, right there on stage." He also told 60 Minutes (via Us Weekly), "I was married. That was easily the toughest thing that I've ... been through. I put my divorce up there with my brother's death and that was a tough, tough call to make."

He and Lambert immediately became one of country music's golden couples, right up there with Tim McGraw and Faith Hill and Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood. Lambert and Shelton married in 2011 after dating for more than five years, but divorced in 2015. Though neither Shelton nor Lambert has been explicit for the reason for the split, there have been rumors of cheating on both sides that they each denied, as well as scheduling conflicts and lifestyle changes that neither could live with from the other ... and possibly because Shelton's fellow The Voice coach Gwen Stefani became single.

Gwen Stefani is a serial gusher

Gwen Stefani's first love was Tony Kanal, bassist of No Doubt, who she began dating in 1987 and who dumped her in 1994, inspiring hit songs like "Don't Speak," "Ex-Girlfriend," and, later, when they got along again, "Cool." She told Howard Stern in 2016 (via E! News), "I was in love and obsessed with Tony Kanal, and he knows that. As soon as he opened the car door I was like, 'I love him.'"

Not long after her split from Kanal, Stefani met Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale, whom she dated for seven years before marrying in 2002. "Somehow he got my phone number, and that was that. He stalked me, I think," she joked. "I was only 26, and I only had the one relationship. I still lived at home when I met Gavin." She and Rossdale shared sons Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo and lived happily ever after — until Stefani filed for divorce in August 2015 amid allegations that Rossdale cheated on her with the nanny.

Two months later, Stefani began dating Blake Shelton, and TMZ reported that Rossdale believed Stefani accused him of cheating as a distraction from her own potential affair with Shelton. Stefani and Shelton have been inseparable and obsessed with PDA since day one, and neither can seem to shut up about the other — and they may even have wedding plans in the works.

Usher has a long list of exes

Usher romanced singer Monica when he was 14 years old. He told Ask Men in 2004 that it was "an innocent child love." He then courted her R&B rival, Brandy, though he says they never got serious.

By 2001, Usher began dating TLC singer Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, and they stayed together until 2003, right around the time his album Confessions dropped. The lyrics on the album describe a man having an illegitimate child behind his girlfriend's back, and when the project was released, the singer had to clarify that it wasn't autobiographical. "I do not have an illegitimate child," he told press in 2004. "I think maybe I should clear the air a little, because it never happened. My relationship ended because [Chilli] is 33, and I'm 25. We wanted different things, and we broke up because of irreconcilable differences." Chilli later corroborated Usher's account of the split.

In 2004, Usher briefly dated supermodel Naomi Campbell (and they were rumored to have hooked up again in 2016). In 2005, he made red carpet rounds with stunner Eishia Brightwell. In 2006, he met Tameka Foster, who he married in 2007 and with whom he shares two sons. They had an acrimonious divorce in 2009 and settled their custody agreement in 2012. In 2014, he called his marriage to Foster his "best mistake."

Shortly after filing for divorce from Foster, Usher began dating Grace Miguel in 2009. They married in September 2015, but not without drama: In 2017, a woman named Laura Helm sued Usher for $20 million for allegedly giving her genital herpes after a hookup earlier that year. Usher denied the claims and Helm eventually dismissed her suit. Another woman of questionable credibility, Quantasia Sharpton, accused Usher of trying to give her herpes, an allegation Usher and his team vehemently denied.

Pharrell is a one-woman man

Pharrell Williams' first public romance was with model Jade Jagger (yes, the daughter of Mick), whom he reportedly dated off and on from 2003 through 2005. He also dated director, artist, designer, and all-around stunner Vashtie Kola from 2004 to 2006. Since 2007, he's been with model Helen Lasichanh, with whom he welcomed son Rocket in 2008. They married in 2013 and became parents to triplets in January 2017.

Shakira never mixed business with pleasure

Shakira dated Antonio De La Rua for a decade from 2000 to 2010, and their split got messy: In 2013, he sued her for $100 million, claiming he was her business adviser and entitled to a ton of her earnings, which TMZ reported that she denied and eventually got thrown out court. In fact, Shakira had drafted an agreement with De La Rua to prevent this very thing from happening and retained copies of it, so he didn't get a dime from her.

In 2011, Shakira began dating current beau, soccer star Gerard Pique. She and Pique are proud parents to sons Milan and Sasha, and they've been going strong as a couple since they first got together — though they each banned one another from getting too close with models in their work.

Jennifer Hudson is strong and single

When Jennifer Hudson first hit it big, she was dating her high school sweetheart James Peyton. They split in 2007, which she said was her doing.

"He was my childhood sweetheart ... When we broke up, it wasn't the fame ... It was my choice [to split]," she told Necole Bitchie. "It is difficult with [this] type of lifestyle and being a strong woman and being in any type of relationship, which I've eventually come to learn when dealing with people. Or males at times have issues when they are with a successful woman."

Hudson was then linked to New York Jets player Kerry Rhodes, but it didn't last, and she began dating David Otunga, getting engaged less than a year later and welcoming son David Daniel Otunga, Jr., in 2009. They never married, however, splitting in fall 2017, with Hudson even filing a protective order against Otunga. TMZ reported that Otunga believed Hudson was having an affair with music producer Mali Music, though a relationship between the two was never confirmed nor denied. Otunga denied any wrongdoing or abuse, and the protective order against him was dropped in late November 2017.

Kelly Clarkson keeps it real

Kelly Clarkson reportedly dated inaugural American Idol runner-up Justin Guarini while they filmed From Justin To Kelly (2003). Clarkson explained on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, "We didn't date during Idol ... We did date a little bit [while filming From Justin To Kelly] ... 'Timeless,' put that song on from From Justin To Kelly – you can't fight it!"

In 2005, Clarkson dated her opening act Graham Colton, but it didn't last due to their conflicting schedules once the run was over. "He was in the studio, and we didn't even see each other," she said, adding, "If I'm not going to get to hang out or make out, I don't really want to date."

In 2012, Clarkson started dating music manager Brandon Blackstock. Clarkson says it was love at first sight for her. "We didn't even know each other, but he had walked past me once [in 2006] and there was a moment in my crazy head," she said. However, it took years for her to approach him, in part because he was married — so when they finally got together, she said, "He was so shocked because he thought I hated him!"

Blackstock and Clarkson wed in 2013 and are parents to daughter River Rose and son Remington, as well as Blackstock's son Seth and daughter Savannah from his previous marriage.

Alicia Keys was accused of being a homewrecker

When she first rose to fame, Alicia Keys would never name her longtime boyfriend. However, in 2006, Keys didn't deny to Jane magazine (via MTV News) that the lucky was her collaborator Kerry Brothers. "I have to say, the person I'm with is really special," she said. "And I'm lucky ... I feel very, very, very blessed to have someone so special to me. Someone who I know cares about me. That's what it's about. I'm pretty lucky."

They split in 2007, and Keys took up with producer Swizz Beatz in 2008 — while he was still legally married to wife Mashonda, but she denied anything untoward happened during Beatz's marriage. "[Beatz and Mashonda] were apart for some time before we ever got together," Keys told Jet (via Bustle). "That doesn't matter to those who take pleasure in trying to knock others down ... there's no need to fight what's not true." (For her part, Mashonda insisted repeatedly that they did have an affair.)

Keys and Beatz married in 2010 and welcomed son Egypt three months later. In December 2014, Keys and Beatz had their second son, Genesis. She and Mashonda have since made peace and celebrated their blended family.

Miley Cyrus couldn't be tamed (til now)

Considering she's the youngest judge on The Voice, Miley Cyrus may have the lengthiest dating history of her peers. Tyler Posey told Entertainment Tonight that Cyrus was his first kiss when he was 9 years old, and Dylan Sprouse revealed that he dated Cyrus for one day when he was 11. Cyrus then dated Nick Jonas off and on from 2006 to 2009, admitting he was her first love.

In April 2008, a photo hack revealed suggestive photos Cyrus may have intended only for her then-boyfriend Thomas Sturges, who was rumored to be behind the leak. She moved on with male model Justin Gaston, who was 20 to her 16 at the time; they split after a year of dating in summer 2009.

Cyrus met Liam Hemsworth in 2009 on the set of The Last Song (2010), and they began an on-again-off-again romance. During a break early on in their relationship, Cyrus hooked up with Avan Jogia, but it was short-lived — and and Hemsworth reunited and announced their engagement in June 2012, but split in 2013 amid rumors of Hemsworth's wandering eye.

Cyrus rebounded from Hemsworth with music producer Mike Will in 2014, then Patrick Schwarzenegger and model Stella Maxwell. However, by January 2016, Cyrus and Hemsworth were engaged again.
