Paris Hilton's Real Eye Color Isn't What You Think

Sliving!

Affluent hotel heiress Paris Hilton first burst onto the socialite scene in the early 2000s and quickly garnered the attention of many while prancing around town in Juicy Couture tracksuits, stowing a tiny chihuahua in her purse, and cooing the iconic catchphrase "that's hot" in her unmistakable baby voice. Good times, good times.

Perhaps even more famous than her style, however, was her physical appearance. Blonde, blue-eyed, and permanently tan. "I love bringing that sparkle, the rainbow and the sun to everything I do," she once told Gotham magazine about her quintessential style. "I think maybe because I'm an Aquarius it just comes naturally to me. One of the things I love to do most in life is to make people happy and smile." But as it turns out, much like her manufactured tan (thanks to ultraviolet light tanning beds and spray tanning booths), those baby blues she loved to bat in front of the paparazzi cameras weren't real either.

Paris Hilton's natural eye color is much darker

Perhaps beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.

On May 19, 2017, Paris Hilton stunned many when she shared a throwback photo of herself cuddling her pet.... wait for it... ferret. "Back when I was 13 in #Vegas & decided to go an to [sic] exotic pet store to buy a ferret & name her #FerretFawcett," she penned in the Instagram caption. But the domesticated ferret wasn't what had everyone in a tizzy. While the 13-year-old Hilton was still rocking her pale blonde locks and long, slender frame, something was noticeably different. Hilton's famous peepers were NOT blue. "Your dark eyes are really nice," one user commented. Another fan, however, wasn't so sure and a debate ensued. "Nope they're green, it's actually a misconception that they're brown. If you look at my page I made a few posts about it where you can clearly see her natural eye colour up close," the user argued. Either way, Hilton isn't the only one in Hollywood temporarily changing her eye color for appearance's sake...

Many celebrities are sporting colored contact lenses

As it turns out, many celebrities are guilty of using colored contact lenses to change up their look.

Per Huffington Post, A-listers Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie, and even models and rumored rivals Tyra Banks and Naomi Campbell have been known to wear colored contacts. Still, the American Academy of Ophthalmology adamantly warns against obtaining the lenses without a prescription. "Personally, I have seen far too many serious cases in both children and adults from using decorative lenses,"  Thomas Steinemann, MD cautioned.

As for Hilton, while we can't be sure whether or not her contact lenses are prescribed, it has been rumored that they have caused some unwanted side effects. "They have been drying out lately," a source told Page Six in 2007. "She is ignoring doctors' orders to not wear her tinted contacts." Yikes. For Hilton's sake, we really, really hope that's not the case. But as the old proverb goes, hindsight is always 20/20.
