What We Know About Cher And Christopher Meloni's Relationship

When you've lived a life like Cher's, one might think sitting at home in front of the television sounds boring. However, the "Believe" singer would beg to differ. On her nights off from touring, she cuddles up on the couch just like the rest of us. Her show of choice? "Law & Order: Organized Crime."

Seeing Christopher Meloni return to the iconic role of Elliot Stabler, the series follows the former "SVU" detective taking on organized crime following the murder of his wife. The series received mixed reviews from critics, but audiences were a bit kinder in their assessments (per Rotten Tomatoes). While some watch the series for its intriguing plot, Cher tuned in for something else.

Cher previously tweeted about Meloni, which left some fans wondering about the relationship between the music legend and the actor. Unfortunately, it might be more smoke than fire, seeing as Cher has also tweeted about "SVU" lead Mariska Hargitay, but still, the musician hasn't hesitated when addressing her admiration for Meloni when asked.

Cher is a Christopher Meloni fangirl

Anyone with remote knowledge of American television is likely familiar with "Law & Order." It's the series that put police procedurals on the map before spinning off into the mega-popular "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." While the series remains popular, it first catapulted into the American consciousness due to its tremendous cast, primarily Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni. As a result, both actors have scores of dedicated fans — and can count Cher among them.

The singer gushed over Meloni on Twitter, calling him an "excellent, charismatic actor," which created speculation that she fancied him. Granted the internet's collective crush on Elliot Stabler, it's a reasonable jump. However, Cher denied that her feelings were anything but professional. "I thought that he added something to the show — to 'SVU' — that kind of left," she said in an appearance on "The Late Late Show with James Corden."

She added that she merely meant that she was happy to see Meloni back on the small screen in "Law & Order: Organized Crime." While the music icon isn't alone in being happy to see Meloni back, most fans have a decidedly less platonic view of the actor.

Cher doesn't share the internet's thirst for Christopher Meloni

While fans have been crushing over Christopher Meloni for years, the internet collectively broke after seeing an on-set photo that showed off his sculpted posterior. Users were quick to tweet their thirst for the actor, and surprisingly, he was into it.

Per Entertainment Weekly, Meloni not only appreciated the thirst tweets, but he also reacted to them. When a Twitter user joked about his "birthday cake," a slang term used for his fanny, the actor tweeted that it would have "tasted better without a wallet and phone buried in the filling." Debatably, the most iconic response came from a fan asking if they could use his rear "in case of emergency," to which Meloni responded by tweeting step-by-step instructions

Sadly, Cher was less impressed than the fans, maintaining that her admiration for the "Law & Order" star has nothing to do with his looks. "Just because someone is an excellent actor doesn't mean you want to jump on their bones and roll them around in the carpet," Cher told "Late Late Show" host James Corden. Even so, Meloni responded to Cher's praise in the most wholesome way, tweeting that her message was "a lovely way to start the day." Could we see a potential Cher appearance on "Law & Order?" One can dream.
