I Am Jazz Season 8 Release Date, Cast, And More Information

Jazz Jennings has been very honest about almost every aspect of her life since "I Am Jazz" premiered on TLC in 2015. The star's let the cameras roll on some of the most intimate of moments as she and her family experienced the ups and downs of her transgender journey, as well as sharing an insight into the everyday struggles of growing up.

Fans have seen the reality star grow into a stunning young woman who is now a proud student at Harvard University, and has also gotten extremely candid about her experiences with mental health issues. "There's just a bunch of different things that we explore that I feel like need to be discussed, because they aren't talked about enough and so many people struggle with these issues," she told "Today" in November 2021 of the important topics the show takes on. The heartwarming series also displays the close bond Jazz has with her family, including her parents Jeanette and Greg Jennings, who have supported their daughter every step of the way. "They've held my hand and supported me and stayed by my side throughout every single second of it all and I focus every day on expressing gratitude for them because we really are a blessed family," she told E! News that same month.

And Jazz clearly has no plans to stop the cameras from rolling on the intimate parts of her life anytime soon, as "I Am Jazz" is officially returning to our screens for Season 8.

When will I Am Jazz Season 8 premiere?

"I Am Jazz" will be back on TLC for Season 8 in early 2023, with Variety confirming in November 2022 that the reality show will officially be back on January 24, 2023, at 10 p.m. ET. The big announcement was made alongside the exciting news that a slew of other hit shows for the network will also be back early in the New Year, with "Say Yes To The Dress," "My 600-Lb. Life," "7 Little Johnstons," "1000-Lb. Best Friends," "Darcey & Stacey," "Extreme Sisters," "7 Little Johnstons," "My 600-Lb. Life," and "Return to Amish" also being renewed.

Jazz Jennings' mom, Jeanette Jennings, previously admitted that if the show would continue on beyond Season 7 would be up to Jazz, as well as the rules and regulations that would come with potentially filming at Harvard University after Jazz got her place at the prestigious college following her decision to defer due to mental health issues. "I can say this, that it's really in our hands, to put it that way. It's really what Jazz wants to do. So it could be [back]," she told MediaVillage.com in February. "But if she's, like, tied up with summer school or something, they can't film up at Harvard... Without her, we wouldn't have a show," she noted.

Who will be in I Am Jazz Season 8?

Of course, we can expect Jazz Jennings to return for Season 8 of "I Am Jazz." As pointed out by Jazz's mom, Jeanette Jennings, there would be no show without its main star. As for who else could be back? We'll more than likely see Jeanette and her dad, Greg Jennings, back again. We already know that both have paid a visit to their daughter at Harvard too, as Jazz shared snaps with her parents on Instagram in October, though it's not yet clear if the cameras were rolling.

Also likely to make a return? Jazz's brother, Sander. The reality star made it pretty clear he loved appearing on the show, as he told fans on Instagram how grateful her was in April following the "I Am Jazz" Season 7 finale. Posting a family transformation video that showed how the gang has changed since 2013, he wrote, "Our family is so blessed to have the platform to share our story. It's up to all of us to rise up and continue to spread equality through unconditional love and allyship."

As fans will know, Jazz's sister, Ari Jennings, headed to Arkansas in Season 7 to continue her education, which may mean she has a smaller role in future episodes, while her other brother, Griffen Jennings, is still in Florida. It's also likely we could see some new faces on the show as Jazz makes new friends — and potentially new love connections.

What the new season of I Am Jazz will be about

As fans eagerly anticipate the return of "I Am Jazz," what exactly will Season 8's episode be about? Finding love! According to Variety, Jazz Jennings will be getting into the dating game in new episodes and will follow her as she heads home to Florida after completing her first year at Harvard. After Jennings revealed in Season 7 that she was excited to explore her sexuality while away at college, the teaser description for Season 8 revealed that Jazz has been trying to find love on dating apps, but hasn't had much success. Sadly though, it's not just dating that Jazz has to deal with as, when she returns to campus, she receives a chilling death threat that's so worrying Greg Jennings and Jeanette Jennings are forced to get involved to protect their daughter's safety.

It's thought the new series could also touch on the issues Jazz has shared her experiences with in the past, as the reality star has been very vocal about her mental health issues and struggles with her weight after gaining 100 pounds. "It's really important that people realize that yes, I do have mental health issues. No, it has nothing to do with me being transgender or my transition," Jazz told "Today" in November 2021.
