What The Hills' Whitney Port Does For A Living Today

Whitney Port first became a household name after nabbing a spot on MTV's "The Hills," which premiered in 2006. She starred alongside "Laguna Beach" star Lauren Conrad as they both started internships at Teen Vogue, per Entertainment Tonight. Port hadn't auditioned to be on a reality show, but the opportunity fell into her lap. "It all happened really organically. I applied for an internship at Teen Vogue for the fall ... and they said, 'If you want the job, you kinda have to be comfortable with a camera crew because MTV's starting to film a TV show here,'" Port told ET.

Port's time at Teen Vogue, along with her long stint on "The Hills," led to her starring on her own reality show spinoff called "The City." The show followed Port living in New York City as she worked for People's Revolution and Diane von Furstenberg's design house. By 2008, the aspiring fashion designed had launched her own line called Whitney Eve.

After "The City" was canceled in 2010, Port added a few television credits to her resume, appearing as special guest star on the miniseries "Hollywood Is Like High School with Money," which she also served as an executive producer on (via IMDb). In 2012, she put her fashion knowledge to good use, serving as a judge on "Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model." That same year, she launched her YouTube channel and although she initially covered her life as a mom and fashionista, it has ultimately circled back to her time on "The Hills" and "The City."

Whitney Port's YouTube channel has a huge following

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Whitney Port decided to rewatch "The Hills" and "The City" and had the idea to film her and her husband Tim Rosenmann's reactions for her YouTube channel (via Feeling The Vibe Magazine). During their rewatch, the couple provided commentary on everything from Port's early '00s fashion choices to her dating life.

Over a decade removed from her reality show days, Port was able to laugh at her 20-something self. "I never really loved being in front of the camera. It wasn't something that I fully felt natural doing ... It's really not until I started filming these videos with [Rosenmann] that I gained my comfort and I felt like I could really be myself," Port told Vogue in 2021.

Port's first rewatch of "The City" got over 400,000 views, while her reunion with her "The Hills" co-star Lauren Conrad racked up more than 800,000 views. The reality star's videos are helped along by Rosenmann, who was a producer for "The City" and gives viewers background information on post-production secrets, per InStyle. While Port's YouTube presence is growing, she hasn't forgotten her fashion roots and created a line that helped her through a difficult time.

Whitney Port is back to designing

While some took a step back from work during the COVID-19 pandemic, Whitney Port kept herself busy with her YouTube channel and also created a clothing line. Port was going through a hard time in 2020, which inspired her to come up with a line of loungewear that puts the wearer at ease, per Shape. "The collection is meant to make you feel warm and comforted, like someone is giving you a hug. COZeCO is the kind of brand you want to wear when you're not necessarily in the mindset or motivation to put together a dressed-up look," Port shared.

That same year, Port also launched a capsule collection called Love, Whit with Rent the Runway. When asked what inspired her collection, Port told Shift, "As a mom, career woman and someone who loves fashion, I designed Love, Whit based on what I thought was missing from my wardrobe. I wanted to create clothes that would make women feel empowered when they walk out the door."

Not one to forget her reality TV roots, fans saw Port on the small screen in 2019 on "The Hills: New Beginnings," and then again in 2021 for the second season (via IMDb). With Port's many talents, she is proving that she can do it all.
