The Rare Medical Condition 90 Day Fiancé Star Alina Kasha Lives With
Season 5 of "90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days" included couple Alina Kasha and Caleb Greenwood, prior to TLC's decision to remove Kasha (whose real name is Alina Kozhevnikova) from the series in response to social media posts she had made prior to her appearance on it (per Deadline). One difference between Kasha and Greenwood that ultimately led to the end of their relationship on the show was their height (via The Hollywood Gossip), since Kasha has a form of Dwarfism.
Granted, Kasha isn't the first person with dwarfism to appear on a TLC series, with other series such as "Little People, Big World," "The Little Couple," and "7 Little Johnstons" also focusing on stars with forms of dwarfism, but her relationship with Greenwood brought an interesting dynamic into play. As noted by Showbiz Cheat Sheet, Kasha was the first person with dwarfism to star on "Before the 90 Days," which made viewers curious about her condition and how it has affected her. Kasha even took to Instagram to comment on fan speculation about her height and whether she is shorter in real life than she claims to be (via Screen Rant).
Alina Kasha has diastrophic dysplasia
As she explained in Season 5 of "Before the 90 Days," Russian Alina Kasha has a condition called diastrophic dysplasia. In Kasha's discussion of her condition on the show, she said, "It's a form of dwarfism. It's rare and it affects everyone differently. For a child to be born with this type of dwarfism both parents have to be carriers of the gene. It can affect your joints and, of course, your stature. My hands and my feet look pretty different too, but I don't think the disability is a problem. In many areas of my life, I try to do everything, really."
Kasha was shown using a wheelchair at times on "Before the 90 Days," and partner Caleb Greenwood even brought a backpack in which to carry her while hiking (via Screen Rant). She also chose to have her friend Elijah accompany her to Turkey to meet Greenwood so that he could assist her if needed (via Showbiz Cheat Sheet).
In a video on her YouTube channel, Kasha answered some questions she had received about her diastrophic dysplasia. In one response on her advice to young girls with disabilities, she shared, "[M]y advice would be to just love yourself. Like, who cares if you have a disability or not? If someone has a problem with that, it's their problem, it's not yours."
Alina Kasha has addressed sex and intimacy with dwarfism
On social media, former "90 Day Fiancé" cast member Alina Kasha has been open with fans about her experiences with sex and intimacy. In the caption of one Instagram post, she wrote about the lack of disabled representation in sex scenes and said, "Fast forward some years. I've had an anonymous [sex] blog where I shared my experiences. I think I got lucky to be able to introduce to people at least the IDEA of someone disabled doing it. No matter what is being thought of me, I'll keep doing this in any way possible — posts on Insta, TikTok, burlesque performances... 'cause I've never had anyone who I could look up to! Someone who felt hot AF in their own disabled body."
As noted by The Hollywood Gossip, Kasha was also seen in intimate situations with Caleb Greenwood on "Before the 90 Days."
