Inside Ben Affleck's Relationship With His Brother, Casey

The only thing that's better than sibling rivalry is having a supportive sibling. Just ask Oscar-winning brothers, Casey and Ben Affleck. The pair have been dominant figures in the entertainment industry for almost three decades and for good reason — they're talented.

Ben is an actor, writer, director, and producer who has been active in the industry since the '90s. He has what it takes to remain relevant and push the envelope. It's hard to believe that he was only 25 years old when he won his first Oscar for the film "Good Will Hunting."

The movie star has been on the rise ever since and has the résumé and lengthy IMDb profile to prove it. After winning an Oscar for 2012's "Argo," Affleck has spent a significant chunk of the last decade entrenched in the world of superhero movies. After playing Bruce Wayne (aka Batman) in a number of films, it's now looking like he'll jump behind the camera for his next superhero outing, at least if James Gunn has a say in it (via Twitter).

Ben's younger brother, Casey, is right behind him and is a star in his own right. Although we haven't seen the younger Affleck make the jump to superhero status yet, he has a laundry list of successful films under his belt to highlight his star power. The "Interstellar" and "Manchester by the Sea" alum has a lot of things to be proud of, including his relationship with his big brother, Ben.

They're supportive of each other in all aspects of life

It's been said that there may be a shady side to Ben and Casey Affleck, but the children of Timothy Affleck and Chris Anne Boldt are consistently each other's biggest cheerleaders. The dynamic duo support each other in their personal lives as well as their individual careers. They've even worked on multiple projects together.

Of course, 1997's "Good Will Hunting" put them both on the map, but it was only the first in a number of successful collaborations between the two brothers. That same year, the two also worked together on "Chasing Amy" a film about a male that falls in love with his friend who is a lesbian. In the year since then, they have also both appeared in 1999's "200 Cigarettes," an interesting depiction of a group of friends in their twenties navigating through life's ups and downs, and 2007's "Gone Baby Gone," an award-winning film that follows two detectives on the hunt to solve the disappearance of a little girl.

Understandably, the public nature of the Affleck brothers' work can sometimes make things challenging and competitive, but the two are eager to support one another when possible. "You get to where you have had enough failures and you realize that you've got one brother," Casey shared with The Scotsman in 2008, via E! News. "You are going to ruin the relationship by being competitive over who gets to be in a movie? Are you kidding me?"

Ben and Casey only had each other growing up

Ben and Casey Affleck were close early on in life. Despite Casey missing Ben's wedding to Jennifer Lopez, there's no bad blood between the two. In fact, it's quite the opposite. The Affleck brothers only have the best interests in mind for each other which is a trait that was adopted early on in life.

"We kind of only had each other growing up," Casey shared with Us Weekly in June 2019. "My dad wasn't around and my mom worked really early mornings until the evening, so we kind of were together in childhood and shared all that time and all those experiences," he explained. Having a supportive bond with his brother has certainly made an impact on his life.

Ben is a great uncle, the "Manchester by the Sea" actor previously shared in a subsequent Us Weekly article in June 2019. He later explained that he tries to use his relationship with his older brother as a good example for his sons, Indiana and Atticus, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Summer Phoenix. "I try to let them see those types of things and not just be like, 'Hey look. Ben and I are great friends. You guys should be great friends too.'" Even though Casey forgot to thank Ben in his 2017 Golden Globes speech, via Daily Motion, it's all love between the pair and one thing remains true — they will forever be each other's biggest fan.
